In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to California team driver, Jesse Granat!
1. When you first got into RC racing, what pro driver did you look up to and why? Or maybe there was a local/regional driver that you followed?
I started racing 25 years ago at age 16. I always looked up to Cliff Lett and Brian Kinwald. Not only were they fast on the track, their cars always looked great and they were nice guys.
2. What is your favorite class to race in today and why?
E Buggy hands down. The class is rapidly expanding in my area and has opened up the option to race at more local tracks. Also, probably because the cars are larger and faster, the racing feels more grown up if that makes sense.
3. When life interferes and you can’t wheel your RC car, how do you quench your thirst for RC? Do you work on your car, listen to a RC podcast, watch some racing videos, read RC magazines or books, etc?
When I have time, I enjoy working on my cars and watching RC racing videos on YouTube. I also try to stay on top of new product releases from my sponsors so I can share the information online and with the local racing community.
4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?
My favorite JConcepts product are the long wear compound tires. We run our local track dry for our larger events and the JConcepts Aqua compound tires have been nothing short of amazing!
5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?
Since RC car racing takes up much of my free time (and money), my only other hobby right now is attending car events with and driving my Honda Civic Type-R Limited Edition. It’s an amazing car that makes me smile every time I drive her.
