The JConcepts race team stays red hot on the track as Summer heads towards the finish line! Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report at Bego Racing RC Raceway in Napierville, QC, Canada. This past weekend they hosted the Quebec Classic which saw 244 entries! The JConcepts team was once again ready to put in the work so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Xavier Belanger.
He reports that he competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. The finals for the nitro class ran for 45 minutes and after time expired he finished 2nd overall! The e buggy class used a AA format and he finished 2nd in A1 and 10th in A2 after an electrical gremlin ended his run early. After the points were calculated he would finish 5th overall in this class, and both bugs used Aqua compound Detox tires and S15 shells!
His teammate Dylan Raposo finished 2nd in e buggy while running on A2 compound Detox tires!
JC driver Brian Ross finished 4th and he used A3 compound Detox tires in e buggy as well as the nitro buggy class where finished 3rd in the B Main!
JConcepts driver Damian Lamy set the TQ and won both AA mains in e buggy, plus he also set the TQ and took the win in the nitro class! He reports that he used A2 compound Detox tires on his electric car while on his nitro ride he used A3 compound Detox tries.
Joining the team on the e buggy podium in 3rd place was fellow JConcepts driver Jordan Miles to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!
Also running fast at this event was team driver Daemon Holon. He locked up 3rd place in both the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes while using a F2 truck body, a S15 body on his buggy and A2 compound Ellipses tires in both classes!
Crossing the border let’s now check in with team driver Robert Sorjonen who recently competed at Round 5 of the Northwest Championship Tour in Burlington, WA. He doubled up at this race as he set the TQ and took the win in both the Mod 4wd Buggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes! He used Green compound Sprinters on his wheeler and Blue compound Reflex tires on his nitro car. He also finished 2nd in 1/8 Electric Truggy while rolling on Green compound Reflexes too!
Heading south into sunny California let’s get a few updates from the team competing at various events throughout the state. Starting with team driver Jeremy Bunting, he recently competed at Round 5 of Nor Cal RC Monster Trucks Points Series at Auburn RC in Auburn, CA.
In the 2.2 Class he was the the top qualifier, won the freestyle competition, and was the overall event winner for this class with his “Crash Test Dummy” monster truck! It used Renegades Jr 2.2 tires, Midwest 2.2″ MT Wheels and a 2020 Ford Raptor body.
In the Retro class he qualified second overall, made it to the finals and wrapped up the event as the runner up with his “Shotgun” truck! It used a Regulator chassis conversion kit, a Regulator Servo Mount Kit (BAS) 1 Set, Golden Years tires, Tribute wheels, Tribute 2.6″ Monster Truck wheels and a 1989 Ford F-250 Monster Truck body.
Our next update in the state is from Roadrunners R/C Off-Road in Camarillo. This past weekend they held their Golden State Championships race which saw over 150 entries!
JConcepts driver Mike Sorchy competed at this event in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and locked up the 2nd podium spot while using Aqua compound ReHabs! He also competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished 4th for the event while using A2 compound Detox rubber!
His teammmate Jesse Granat finished 3rd in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Electric Truggy! His buggy utilized A2 compound Detox tires and Bullet wheels, while his truggy used A2 compound Ellipses, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing.
Moving east we now stop in at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora, CO for our next update. This past weekend they ran their Turf Wars event and team driver Rob Sturghill finished 3rd in the 40+ 21.5 2wd Buggy class!
His buggy used a F2 body, Mono wheels, Fuzz Bite tires on all four corners and were stuffed with Dirt-Tech inserts.
JC teammate Randy Enger competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and finished 7th overall while using Fuzz Bites in the front and rear, a lightweight S2 shell and a Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set!
Moving up to Wisconsin we stop in the city of New Franken where Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway is located at. This past weekend they held their 21st Corn Roast Off-Road event that saw over 170 entries! Team driver Ryan Derenne competed at this event in three different classes. In Mod 2wd Buggy he would finish 5th while using a P2 body, Green compound Rips up front and Green compound Hybrids in the rear! In the 1/8 Electric Truggy class he would miss out of the transfer spot in the B Main and was rocking Green compound Reflex tires glued to Bullet wheels! In the Mod Stadium Truck class he would start 7th for the A Main but had to retire early with a DNF. But his truck was running good up to that point on Green compound Sprinters topped off with a Finnisher body!
Moving south into the “Land Of Lincoln” we get our next report from team driver Ryan Mcclain. He recently visited RJD Hobbies in the city of Lincoln for their Midwest Meltdown trophy race. He would set the TQ and take the win in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class while using Aqua compound Reflex tires!
Now we pivot over to the “Show Me State” for some updates from the team competing at different tracks. Starting with team driver Adam Kasch he recently went to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs for Round 5 of their Off-Road Point Series. He finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes while using A2 and Blue compound Stalkers and a S15 body on his buggy, while his truggy ran with a F2 truck body and A2 and Blue compound Triple Dees!
Heading to the city of Neosho we stop in at Chicken Dinner Raceway. This past weekend they ran Round 6 of their In The Dirt Series and team driver Matthew Pyle finished 2nd in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy and took the TQ and W in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy.
Both vehicles used Blue compound Reflexes for this past round.
Also competing at this event was fellow JConcepts driver Braden Bruce. He would finish 2nd in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while using Blue compound Reflex tires! Joining him on the podium as the class TQ was fellow JConcepts driver Braxten Culley!
Shooting down to Texas let’s get a few updates from the team competing at events throughout the state. Starting at Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter, they recently hosted Round 6 of the RC Pro Oval Series which saw nearly 100 entries! Team driver Robert Chapman competed in the Outlaw Sprint class, but had some bad luck as he finished his main with a DNF. But he had better luck in the Midwest Modified class as he set the TQ and took the win! His tire of choice was Silver compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses on his Modified car, while his Sprint car used the same tires but in the Aqua compound.
Joining him on the Midwest Modified podium in 2nd place was fellow JConcepts driver Cody Babbitt! His weapon of choice in this class was Aqua compound ReHab tires.
Also competing at this recent round was team driver Kevin Lenderman in the Open Sprint and Latemodel classes. In the Sprint class he missed out transferring from the B Main while using Aqua compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses mounted to 9-Shot wheels. In the Latemodel class he would take the win while using Blue compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses that were also glued to 9-Shot wheels!
JC driver Seth Germany competed in the Street Stock class and would lockup the final podium spot while using Blue compound Sprinters mounted to 9-Shot wheels!
Moving to El Paso we meet up with team driver Mikey Chiudioni who recently competed at Raceparty R/C Track for Round 5 of their Summer Series. He would take the TQ and W in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, while his son Mikey took the TQ and win in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class! Mikey senior used Blue compound Reflex tires in the mains while his son used Red compound Triple Dees. Both bugs also used Silencer shells.
Now, we move east along the coast to Warehouse Hobby Raceway in Helena, AL. Team driver Danny Smith recently competed in 1/8 Nitro Buggy at a recent Saturday Night Shootout and took the win while using Green compound Ellipse tires!
Sending it south to Cocoa, FL let’s stop in at Beachline Raceway to see how the team performed at Round 1 of their Triple Crown series. Team driver Brett Kingsbury set the TQ and took the win in the Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes while using Fuzz Bite tires, F2 and S2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ and 7″ Rear Wings! Joining Brett on the podium in 2nd place was his teammate Jason Ruona!
JC driver Tyler Hooks also took the TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class while running the same equipment package!
Moving up north along the coastline let’s head to ERC Raceway in Easley, SC. They recently hosted Round 3 of the Upstate Showdown and team driver Ennis Graves finished 7th overall in the Pro 1/8 nitro Buggy class while using a S15 shell and Reflexes in various compounds!
Fellow JC driver Cade Burnette also competed at this most recent round in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes. In both classes he would take the TQ and win while using the following gear!
- A3 compound Detox tires
- A2 compound Detox tires
- S15 body
- F2I wing
Staying in South Carolina let’s now visit Badlands RC Supercross in Myrtle Beach for our next team update. This track recently hosted Round 3 of the TSOC Series and team driver Josh Parrish was in attendance.
He competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Mod 4wd Buggy classes, and would go on to finish 6th in e buggy and took the TQ and W in mod wheeler! He used a S2 body, Blue compound ReHabs, Mono wheels, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and a Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set on his 4wd car. For his e buggy he used a S15 body with Blue compound Blockers mounted to Bullet wheels.
Also competing at this event was fellow JC driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. in three classes. He would set the TQ and take home the victory in all of them while using the following goodies!
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = Green compound Kosmos, a S15 body and a F2l wing
- 1/8 Electric Truggy = Green compound Triple Dees and a F2 truck body
- 1/8 Nitro Truggy = Green compound Reflex tires
Team driver David Olsen also threw down some laps at this event and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while using Green compound Kosmos tires and a S3 body!
Continuing north let’s now visit Power Line RC in Fredericksburg, VA. They recently held the 2022 Backyard Nationals and team driver Javon Mallory was there to compete in 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy. He would set the TQ in both classes and go on to finish 2nd in e buggy and 1st in nitro buggy! He used Green compound Reflex tires, RM2 8th Scale Buggy | SCT Insert Bands and F2I wings.
Also racing at this event was his teammate Rusty Mihelich in the same two classes. He would finish 2nd in the nitro class and took the W in the electric class! He also ran Green compound Reflex tires glued to Bullet rims.
Now we veer west to Tri-Cities RC Racing in Lavalette, WV for this race report from Bella Rogers. She recently attended their Mountaineer Showdown finale and competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class. She would set the TQ and finish 2nd while using Green compound Teazers in qualifying before switching over to ReHabs in the same compound for the main! She also used a S15 body for this event.
Heading back east let’s stop in at a new race track called Prototype RC in Dover, DE. Team driver Brian Miskolczi and his son Layton visited there awhile back to check out the new facility and throw down some laps. Layton would finish 3rd in Mod 4wd Buggy while Brian took the TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! Together they used Green compound Sprinters and Rips, F2 bodies, Mono wheels and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
