The past two weekends Mugen/JConcepts driver Adam Drake has been busy attending a few race events in southern California. These events not only brought in a lot of competition, but they also brought in some great toy donations for kids in need this holiday season.
Kicking off these events was the 18th Annual Toys for Tots Race at Palm Desert Raceway in the city of Palm Desert.
This race was a one day event on December 3rd that fielded over 150 entries, and it also brought in a ton of toys thanks to the generosity of the racers!
Qualifying started just past 9am that morning and the race program called for two rounds of qualifying to determine each class TQ. There were 11 classes to compete in and only a driver’s best qualifier would be used to determine who made the main events.
Adam set the TQ in both the 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy and 1/8 Open Nitro Truggy classes, and he would go on to take the win in both!

The following weekend he went to the city of Beaumont where Thunder Alley Raceway is located.
They also held a one day Toy Drive trophy race on Saturday that brought in nearly 150 entries too.
Once again the drivers donated a ton of nice toys to be given away this holiday season, and they competed in 11 different classes for this race as well! This trophy race used a similar format where each driver competed in two rounds of qualifying, but only their best run would count towards their final qualifying position for all of the mains.
Adam competed in both the 1/8 Expert Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, and he would take the back to back TQ and wins for two race weekends in a row!
