In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Connecticut team driver, Zachary Sampiere!
1. When you first got into RC racing, what pro driver did you look up to and why? Or maybe there was a local/regional driver that you followed?
I actually got into it in a very unique way, I watched the TORC series at the time which Traxxas was the title sponsor at the time I got into it and because of that I bought my first RC car which was a Slash. The track I raced at for 5 years before it closed down was Wolcott Hobby And Raceway in Waterbury, CT. I now race at RCHR still in Waterbury, CT.
2. From your experience what is the easiest AND hardest maintenance task on your RC cars?
The easiest task at maintaining the car would be changing the fluids and charging the batteries. The hardest part I would say is the stuff that would break potentially and the amount of time it would take.
3. In your opinion, what needs to be done to increase participation in RC racing, or RC in general?
I think to improve the participation of racing some of the people who are sponsored should have fun and try to reach out to new people that are starting out in racing.
4. When heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why from your experience?
The most important JConcepts product to me to bring is the car stand and my rubber parts tray.
5. What other hobbies are you into besides RC cars?
My other hobbies are golf and working on my Jeep. Outside of that to I work full time at Executive Jeep Nissan in North Haven, CT as a parts consultant.
