Golden Years – 1/24th Mini Monster Truck Tire

When you think about the early days of Monster Trucks, the most distinguishing object on the vehicle were the giant tires. The Golden Years of monster trucks brought out all the best components of a builder, driver, and innovator into one package. However, if it were not for the big, round, and bubbly tires, the segment might have been lost forever. The Golden Years for 1/24th scale monster trucks by JConcepts are another reminder of the commitment the team has to the beginnings of an industry.

An RC builder or modeler always has a new idea or ideal truck from the past they would like to emulate, and now, with the Golden Years, finishing off the early-era replica in 1/24th scale can be complete. For JConcepts, the slate was once again swiped clean when designing the new tire. With learned behavior from 1/10th scale, it was clear a few things would be added for new performance and scale appearance. The full-cleat tire just looks so vintage, and JConcepts explored new heights and lug creation techniques to ensure the new tire had the depth of a champion.

The 1/24th scale chevron pattern might look run of the mill; however, a lot of work has been placed into these beauties to allow the trucks to grip surfaces ranging from carpet, Astroturf and, of course, dirt. The size of the tire is important, and JConcepts has designed these to have a 1/24thscale appearance that make little vintage monsters, well, monsters. The round profile is there too, with included foam inserts and the design built into the carcass, your truck can have the bubbly look of the 1980’s.

Sidewall lettering is very detailed on the Golden Years, allowing drivers to travel back in time, shine them up and display for the fans. The Golden Years are available in soft, blue compound and supplied with open cell inserts to cushion those hard landings and fill-up the carcass. The superior tires are packaged 4 pieces per package and pre-stuffed with the inserts for a nice, clean, and small footprint item. The tires require the use of #3442 Mini Tribute wheels (not included) available in white, black, and gray colors. In the early stages of 1/24th monster truck competition, the wheels attach to 7mm hex adaptors found on vehicles such as the Axial SCX24.

Renegades – 1/24th Mini Monster Truck Tire

Reaching the top step on the podium requires a complete racing package. The result requires the correct setup, stellar driving and just as important, a performance-built tire and compound. During the glory days of monster truck racing, cut tread became a popular method of reducing weight or altering a pattern to tune to specific track conditions. The Renegades tire for the 1/24th monster trucks by JConcepts represents the low-profile carcass and cut-tread movement, capable of winning results straight out of the package.

The 1/24th scale chevron style lugs have been created with specially designed back-cut tread and shaved carcass areas imitating the real thing. At rotation, the tread still stands tall and provides a hefty edge of forward grip in a variety of conditions. The back-cut section provides a small transition during high-speed corning which conform to changing terrain and obstacles. The sidewalls have been treated with wording, designs and descriptions consistent with 1:1 tires during the glory generation of performance.

The low-profile stance of the Renegades are mainstays in the business and stay very flat during racecourse competition, speed-runs, or general use. The tire carcass profile holds the weight extremely low while the design of the tire beads allows just the right amount of contact patch for gluing and application. The Renegades are available in soft “blue” compound which is recommended for dirt, grass and asphalt and feels noticeably mushy and sticky and has expanding characteristics like off-road racings outdoor compounds.

Tribute – 1/24th Mini Monster Truck Wheel

The Tribute mini monster truck wheel by JConcepts packs an assortment of options in to a design and style that mimics the golden age of Monster Truck racing. With a list of design considerations, the team went to work on a simple and durable one-piece wheel design that was first, stout and second, versatile. It was important to incorporate a cylindrical wheel with stepped portion for authenticity and inner ribbing surrounding the hex for compatibility and strength.

While the 1/24th monsters begin to take-off and build within the industry, the 7mm hex is the standard on vehicles such as the Axial SCX24 platform. The wheels include open and closed planetary caps which attach with micro style screws. The planetary caps in solid form support a scale look and the open caps offer a quick-change racer function to suit individual needs. Vehicles in this genre use very small wheel nuts to hold the wheels to the vehicle, JConcepts has included a plastic wrench to help reach hard to get wheel nuts within the Tribute wheels. Each wrench color matches the wheels and planetary accessories in the package.

Also, included in each package, JConcepts has included slide-in mock bead-lock rings (can also be glued into place) which can also be decorated, painted, or dyed to the user’s specifications.
