In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Wisconsin team driver, Richie Peters!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I first started racing when my brother got gifted a Traxxas E-Maxx monster truck. We drove it all around the yard and I was hooked. He had a Duratrax Evader laying around that I started racing Sportsman with at our local track Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in the fall of 2009 and I’ve been racing ever since.
2. What class do you prefer to compete in today, and why?
My preferred class to race in is the 17.5 Stock Buggy class. Everyone in stock is so close in speed and time that it makes for the closest racing and battles.
3. If you have been racing for a while now you have probably glued up 100s of tires. So what gluing tips do you have for beginning racers?
My tips for gluing are, get a quality glue and bands right away. Also, take your time and try to have tires ready before race day, it’s never fun to rush gluing.
4. Which JConcepts product is your favorite to date, and why?
My favorite JConcepts product would probably have to be the Scale Truck And Street Eliminator Backpack. I use it to store tires mainly, and it has a ton of room and different compartments, while holding up and looking good.
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
I make a pretty good Karaoke singer from time to time.
