In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Georgia team driver, Cole Kasten!
1. How did you get your start in RC racing? Did you bash cars at first or jumped right into the racing scene?
I first got into RC when I was five. My dad got me into it and we mainly raced local club races. Eventually that slowly transitioned into traveling to bigger races and traveling throughout the country.
2. Which type of racing format do you prefer and why. A trophy race that runs over a weekend or a single day event with multiple rounds in a points series?
I like both. I usually prefer the trophy races that run over a weekend, because it has the most competition and best venues. But sometimes a Saturday club or points race is much needed just to have fun and race with my buddies.
3. What class do you prefer to compete in today, and why?
I’d have to say 1/8 Nitro Buggy. I’ve probably had my best success in truggy so far, but I enjoy the challenge of nitro buggy and it’s the class I strive to have the best results in.
4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?
Outside of the tires that are always dialed, I’d say the F2I wing. Ever since I started running this wing I’ve loved it. Works great in many conditions and always has a consistent feel to it.
5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?
I’m definitely a big sports fan so I enjoy watching and keeping up with my teams when I am not at the track. Also playing video games with my buddies most nights is always a good time.
