Race Team Update – February 2024 Week #3

Another winning weekend is in the books for the JConcepts race team! Read about our continued winning ways in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they held Round 5 of their Super 7 Series. Team driver Josh Parrish raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and he would set the TQ in 2wd then race on to finish 2nd overall in both classes!

Taking the TQ and W in the Mod 4wd Buggy class was his tire teammate Dave McEwen! Dave also competed in the Mod 2wd Buggy class where he finished 3rd overall!

Staying in North Carolina we now catch up with team driver Wade Piggott. This past weekend he went to Red Brush RC in Mount Airy to sign up for their Race For The Crazies trophy event.

He would finish the weekend with a 9th place finish in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy plus a 2nd place finish in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Next, we fly up north to Sandpit RC located in Jonesville, MI. Last weekend they held Round 5 of their off-road nitro series, and team driver Ilan Sanderson reports that he took the TQ and W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Our next tour stop is at Island Speedway in Muscatine, IA to see how the JC team finished up at their recent Iowa Carpet Off-Road Championships that saw 161 entries!

Starting with team driver Jake Wiggs he signed up for three classes at this race, and he would end the event with a 4th place finish in Mod 2wd Buggy, a 3rd place finish in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and the TQ and 1st place in 13.5 Stadium Truck!

His tire teammate Andrew Thomas also competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class where he finished a solid 4th place overall!

JConcepts driver Riley Filbert also raced in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and he would set the TQ and finish 2nd overall!

Team driver Austin Jacobson raced in both the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes at this event, and he would finish the weekend with a 8th place finish in 2wd and 2nd overall in 4wd!

Also competing for the team at this race was JC driver Mike Sanders. He raced in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class and would finish in 3rd place!

Sending it south we make a beeline to GS Hobby in Barling, AR to see how the team finished up at their recent Stock Turf Nationals. Team driver Rhett McNair let us know that he took home the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! Joining him on the wheeler podium was fellow JC driver Matthew Pyle in 2nd place!

Kicking it over to Kansas we stop in the city of Newton where RC Pitstop & Raceway is nestled at. This past weekend they held Round 4 of their Winter Carpet Series and team driver Mason Herrick captured the TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Finishing right behind Mason on the mod podium was his tire teammate Ken Peterson, and Ken also took home 1st place in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class too!

Heading out west we now get our next update from JC pilot Sam Ford. This past weekend he competed at the 2024 Rumble in the Rockies held at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora, CO in three classes. He would wrap up the event with a 5th place finish in both the 13.5 Stadium Truck and 4wd Buggy classes, plus the TQ and win in 13.5 Short Course Truck! His oldest son Casey took the TQ and W in the 17.5 4wd Buggy class while his youngest son Cameron finished in the lower mains for the same class!

Also competing at this event was his tire teammate Rob Sturghill. Rob competed in three classes and when the dust had settled he would finish 7th in 13.5 4wd Buggy, 6th in 40+ 2wd Buggy and 3rd place in 13.5 Short Course Truck!

Continuing west let’s now stop in at Whip It RC Raceway in Reno, NV for our next update from team driver Jay Wedsted. He recently attended the opening round of their point series and would race on to finish 3rd on the podium in the Intermediate 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Making out way west to sunny California we stop in at SDRC in San Diego for this quick update from team driver Chris Raceles. This past weekend he raced at Round 2 of their Supercross Series, and he would finish the round with a 2nd place finish in 13.5 Stadium Truck and 40+ 4wd Buggy, plus a TQ and another 2nd place finish in 40+ 2wd Buggy!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Tyler Wilbur. This past weekend he attended Round 1 of the Diehard RC Interstate Series held at PDX RC Underground in Portland, OR. He signed up for the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would wrap up the round with a 3rd place finish in wheeler along with 2nd overall in Mod 2wd!
