Race Team Update – May 2024 Week #2

The second weekend of May is in the books and the JConcepts race team continues their winning ways! Read all about it in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at SO RC Raceway in Wesley Chapel, FL. This new facility held their first event last weekend that brought out 149 entries! Competing there for the team was JC driver Brian Miller and he took the win in the 13.5 Short Course Truck class! Joining him on the podium was fellow JConcepts driver Tom Sherman (TQ) in 2nd place! Tom would also finish 5th overall in 13.5 Stadium Truck and 4th place in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy too!

Moving up the coastline we now stop in at S&B RC Speedway in Piedmont, SC. This past weekend they held their Great American Showdown event which was not only a RC race, but also an early Memorial Day tribute to the local Cadets and fire department as well! Team driver Shay Brand raced in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and he would take the TQ and win!

Heading to Virginia we meet up with team driver Brian Miskolczi. He competed at PLRC (Power Line RC) in Fredericksburg since they were host to Round 1 of the Virginia Off-Road Championship Series. He competed in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finished 2nd overall while also setting the TQ! Taking the win in this class was fellow JC pilot Maddy Long! Maddy also competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and set the TQ but suffered a DNF in the main event.

Brian’s son Layton raced in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class and locked up 2nd place!

Cutting the corner to RC Madness in Enfield, CT we get our next report from team driver Matthew Sousa. This past weekend he attended Round 2 of their Turf Shootout series, and he doubled up in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes with two TQs and wins!

Heading back down to West Virginia we stop in at ACCEL RC in the town of Gay. This past weekend they held their Summer Shootout trophy race, and team driver Wade Piggott was able to come away with TQs and Ws in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes plus Pro 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Bouncing up to the “Buckeye state” we get our next report from team driver Chuck Berg. This past weekend he competed in opening round of the Glass City Series held at TARCAR raceway in Toledo. He competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and came away with the double TQ and win!

Moving up to Michigan we stop in at Wicked Pines RC in Wayland to get this quick update from JC driver Kyle Munson. He attended this track to compete in their season opener, and he would finish the event with a 2nd place finish in 1/8 Electric Buggy along with a TQ and win in Pro4 Short Course Truck!

Making our way to Minnesota let’s head to FTR Raceway in Foley to see how the team finished up in their season opener. Starting with team driver Joe Zaier Jr. he reports that he took the win in the Open 1/5 Class!

His tire teammate Joe Scaramell competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and 35+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy classes. He would finish the day with a 13th place finish in e buggy and 2nd overall in truggy!

Sending it south we now stop in Missouri for a few updates from the team competing at different events. Starting at the RC Race Barn in Jefferson City team driver Brad Dean let us know that he took the TQ and win in both the Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Modified classes!

Team driver Matthew Pyle competed at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs for Round 2 of their Slideway Series. He raced dirt oval for the first time there and would finish 2nd overall in the Open Sprint class!

Taking a diagonal to Tennessee we get our next report from JConcepts driver Jonah Wilson. This past weekend he went to Crossville where the RC farm is located to compete in their Springfest trophy race. He would set the TQ and in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes plus Pro 1/8 Electric Truggy! He would suffer a DNF in e buggy but still finish 3rd overall, and he had better luck in his other two classes as he took the wins!

Our next stop is at Taylor Park RC Raceway in Yukon, OK. Team driver David Alford recently competed there for Race #2 of their Saturday Night Points Series, and he would end the night with a 5th place finish in Late Model!

Flying out to sunny California we get our next update from team driver Jeff Guest. This past weekend he competed in Round 2 of the JBRL 1:10 Electric Series held at Rain-Man’s Hobby and Raceway in Bakersfield. He signed up for the 40+ 13.5 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and came home with the double TQ and win!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Ashon Bristol. Over the weekend he went to Snohomish, WA to race in Round 1 of the Diehard RC Turf Series. He raced in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and would end the event with the TQ and win!
