Race Team Update – July 2024 Week #2

As the Summer temps start to rise so does the JConcepts race team as they sprint their way to the top of the podium! Read about our winning ways in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out east at Lake Waccamaw, NC. This site was the location of this past weekend’s RC Pro-AM held event that brought out 243 entries! We had many team drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with JC driver Ryan Rand. He reported that he competed in three classes, and he would finish 8th in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 6th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus 1st place in 1/8 Electric Truggy! Joining him on the e truggy podium were fellow JC drivers Maddy Long (3rd) and Derrick Harris (4th)! Derrick also finished 11th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy too!

Maddy would also end up in 11th overall in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 3rd in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy and grabbed the TQ and finished 2nd in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Truggy! Her father Rusty Mihelich also threw down some laps at this event and he would set the TQ in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy then race on to finish 2nd, plus grabbed another 2nd place finish in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy! After the Pro-Am points were calculated who also won $250 for the Electric portion of the event too!

Team driver Marlowe Bright also made it out this race with his son Carter. Marlowe suffered a DNF in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy main, but had better luck in his other two classes by finishing 9th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and 6th overall in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

His son Carter suffered a DNF in the Sportsman 1/8 Nitro Buggy main, but bounced back with a 2nd place finish in Sportsman 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

JC driver Chris Pace competed in three classes for this event. When the weekend was over he would finish 6th in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, set the TQ and take the win in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus he would finish 3rd overall in the Pro-AM points for the Nitro Division which netted him $250!

Team driver Ken Rand Jr. doubled up at this race with with wins in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy and Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Truggy classes! Joining him on the 40+ e buggy podium were fellow JConcepts drivers Rusty Mihelich (2nd) and Mark Moon (3rd)!

Team driver Trent Walker also doubled up at this race as he took the TQ and win in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus he picked up another W in the Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

JConcepts pilot Jake Stikeleather finished 3rd in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, and after the Pro-AM points were tallied up for the Nitro Division he would take home a check for $1,000!

Heading north to Barnstormers RC Raceway in Chester, NY we check in with team driver Daniel Sedler. This past weekend he competed at their Big Apple Challenge, and he would finish 4th in 1/8 Electric Buggy along with a TQ and 1st place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Next, we fly over to Michigan to get a few reports from the team competing at different events. Starting in the town of Swartz Creek we meet up with team driver Mike Legue. Beyond the Creek RC Raceway hosted Round 3 of the Tri State Series, and Mike would set the TQ in 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy along with 1/8 Nitro Truggy! When the mains were finished he would finish 2nd in e buggy, plus took home the wins in the other two classes!

Our next stop in the state is at Novi RC in the city of Novi. Team driver Russ Bryant recently competed there for a WRC points event and he would take the win in the Pro2 Short Course Truck class!

Making our way to Ohio we stop in at Dillons RC Raceway in the city of Corning. There we find team driver Wade Piggott who recently compete at their Independence Shootout, and when the race was over he would bring home the TQ and win in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus he grabbed another W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Working our way west into Wisconsin we get this quick update from team driver Richie Peters. This past weekend he competed at Cheese City Xtreme in Monroe for their Stateline Dirt Challenge, and he would take the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Now we make our way out west to Aberdeen, SD. This past weekend the Dakota Slidewayz RC Club held their Midwest Nationals that that brought out over 100 entries!

When the dust had settled JConcepts driver Mason Fuller would take the win in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class! He also took the win in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium were his tire teammates Seth VanDalen (2nd) and Ashton Abdul (3rd)! Seth also finished 2nd in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, plus picked up the win in nitro truggy, and Ashton would finish 4th overall in nitro buggy as well!

Now we bounce back to the “Hoosier State” for our next update. Team driver Cody Meiferdt recently made a trip to VCRC Raceway in Terre Haute to compete in their Furby 3.0 trophy race.

When the race was over he would finish in 2nd place in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! Setting the TQ in this class was fellow JC driver Tyler Jones!

Moving to the “land of Lincoln” we stop in at the JB Scale Graphics Raceway in Waterloo. The 2nd race event for the Trigger King series took place there last weekend, and team driver Josh Rhodes took bracket wins with his Bigfoot IV and Maximum Destruction replica rigs!

Moving down to Missouri we stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO. This past Saturday they held another round of their Slideways Dirt Oval points series, so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver David Fast. He competed in the 410 and 360 Sprint classes, and he would just miss the transfer spot to the A Main in the 410 class, but in the 360 class his car was on fire as he set the TQ and took the win!

Fellow JC driver Jeremy Cathlina competed in three classes in this recent round. He would finish 3rd overall in the 410 Sprint class, plus two TQs and wins in Midwest Modified and Late Model!

Taking the win in the 410 Sprint class was team driver Will Brinton!

Our next stop is at the RC Farm in Crossville, TN. They recently held their I-40 Championship event, and team driver Jonah Wilson sped away from the competition as he took the double TQ and win in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

Moving south to Alabama let’s stop in at S.H.A.R.C. in the city of Tuscumbia. This past weekend they held their 2024 SHARC Attack trophy race and team driver Randy Enger competed in two classes. He would set the TQ and take the win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, plus he picked another W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class too!

His tire teammate Will Scott also signed up for two classes. In the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would suffer a DNF early on and wasn’t able to get his car fixed for the rest of the event. He had better luck in the Stadium Truck class as he finished 2nd overall!

Shooting over to Texas let’s stop in at Mikes Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter.

Last weekend they hosted Round 6 of the HARC (Houston Area RC) Series, and team driver Brian Henn reports that he finished 3rd overall in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Also competing in this most recent round was his tire teammate Todd Geary. When the racing was complete he would finish 5th in the 40+ Electric Buggy class along with a 3rd place finish in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Flying out west to sunny California let’s get some updates from the team competing at different monster truck events throughout the state. Our first update is from Jeremy Bunting who recently competed in first Nor Cal Hobbies Monster Jam event that took place in San Jose. He finished 3rd overall in the Solid Axle Monster Truck class with his Carnage truck, plus he won the racing bracket in the Mini LMT Class!

Next, we head to Menifee to see how the team finished up at Round 4 of the SCMT (So Cal Monster Trucks) points series. Team driver Michael Letcher reports that he made it to the quarter finals for the Pro Mod brackets, plus he took 3rd overall in the Freestyle class!

His tire teammate Trever Adamo won both racing brackets for the Pro Mod and Retro classes!

Team driver Jessica Dahl made it to the quarter finals in the racing brackets, plus picked up the win in the Freestyle class!

Heading north we catch up with team driver Evan Roeth. This past weekend he was back at Skagit River Raceway in Burlington, WA for Round 2 of their points series. Not only did he call the races, but he also was the man to beat in the Expert 1/8 Buggy class as he took the TQ and win!

Next, we head over to HRCR (Hayden Radio Control Raceway) in Hayden, ID for this quick update from JConcepts driver Adam Drake. This past weekend HRCR held their 2024 Adam Drake Gas Truck Nationals that brought out 122 entries including 12 gas trucks!

Adam would compete in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Gas Truck classes, and he would come home with the double TQ and win!

Finally, let’s check in with our International team that was competing at the recent Asian Buggy Championships held in Brisbane, Australia. Starting with team driver Aaron Dexter he reports that he finished 10th overall in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 6th place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

JC driver Ben Panic was also competing in this race, and he would wrap up the event with a 20th place finish in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus two 4th place finishes in 45+ 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy!
