Race Team Update – June 2024 Weeks #3 & #4

The last two weeks have been successful for the JConcepts race team as they continue to collect wins around the globe! Read about our combined winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out in sunny California. The team has been busy competing at different RC events so let’s get our first update in the state from team driver Don Vinkemulder. He competed in the TNR Arenacross event held in Norco last weekend, and he finished 4th in Expert 1/8 Nitro Truggy, plus grabbed a 3rd place finish in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Heading to San Diego we meet up with team driver Chris Raceles. He competed in the finals for the SDRC Supercross Series and he would finish 2nd that day in 40+ Mod 4wd Buggy, plus he grabbed the TQ and 1st place in both 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck! When the series points were calculated he would also be crowned the series champion in all three classes!

Two weeks ago he also competed at Round 3 of the JBRL (Jimmy Babcock Racing League) 1:10 Off-Road Series that took place at Coyote Hobbies Raceway in Victorville. After the racing was complete that day he would finish 6th in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and 3rd overall in 40+ Mod 4wd Buggy!

Our final report in the state comes to us from JC driver Jessica Dahl. She recently competed at Boneyard Madness in Menifee for a monster truck event, and she got both of her trucks into the quarter finals, plus took the Freestyle win with her Sparkle Smash ride!

Heading to the Midwest we touch down at the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha. This past weekend they held the finals for their Summer point series so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Bradley Peterson. He raced in the Expert 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes, and he would wrap up the summer with a 7th place finish in 2wd and 6th place finish in wheeler!

JConcepts driver Brandon Kearney competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes where he ended up 6th overall in both!

JC pilot Ethan Delair competed in the same two classes and he would finish 7th overall in Mod 4wd Buggy and 4th place in Mod 2wd Buggy!

JC team driver Andrew Thomas reported that he took 1st place in both the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes in this series!

Team driver Mason Herrick raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes for the series and he locked up 2nd place in both divisions! Joining him on the Mod 2wd Buggy podium were team drivers Tom Rinderknecht (1st) and Owen Vanderbeek (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

JConcepts driver Tj Williams competed in three classes over the entire series. When the points were tallied up he would finish 4th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, 3rd in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy and 1st place in 13.5 Stadium Truck!

Team driver, and Plex race director, Alex Sturgeon also competed in multiple classes for this series too. He would finish 5th overall in Mod 4wd Buggy, plus he would finish 1st overall in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! Joining him on the podium to complete the JConcepts podium sweep were fellow team drivers Mack Vanderbeek (2nd) and Orlando Martinez (3rd)!

Heading east on I-80 we stop in at Send It R.C. Speedway at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel, IA for this quick update from team driver David Fast. This past weekend he raced there for a trophy event, and when the night was over he would set the TQ and finish 5th in 360 Sprint along with two 2nd place finishes in 410 Sprint and Open Late Model!

Heading up I-35 we stop in at FTR Raceway in Foley, MN . This past Saturday they held their Firecracker trophy race and team driver Joe Zaier Jr. reported that he finished 3rd in 35+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy along with a 1st place finish in 1/5 Gas Truck!

Joining him on the podium for 35+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy was his tire teammate Joe Scaramell, and Joe also let us know that he finished 4th overall for 1/8 Nitro Buggy too!

Crossing the border we get our next update from team driver Ryan Derenne. He recently competed at Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI for Round 3 of their Summer Series.

After the dust had settled he would finish in the B Main for 1/8 Electric Truggy and a 4th place in Mod Stadium Truck!

Leaping over Lake Michigan we splash down in Jonesville, MI where Sandpit RC is located. This past weekend they held their 11th Annual Angie Mitchell Memorial Race, and team driver Mike Legue raced in two classes. He would wrap up the event with a TQ and 3rd place finish in 1/8 Electric Buggy along with another 3rd place finish in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Joining him on the 1/8 Nitro Buggy podium to complete the JConcepts sweep were team drivers Ilan Sanderson (2nd) and Jared Wiggins (1st)! Ilan also took home the W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class too!

Putting the pedal down to the metal we race over to Pennsylvania for our next update. LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills held their Party Rock Race last weekend which brought out 277 entries! Team driver Greg Harmer Jr. was in attendance and he took the TQ and W in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

Team driver Aydan Manchanda competed in three classes at this race. He would finish 9th in 1/8 Electric Buggy, 4th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Team driver Wade Piggott has been busy at the track the past two weekends. Last weekend he went to Brown’s Hobby Shop & Raceway in Irondale, OH to compete in a trophy event. He would set the TQ but suffer a DNF in the main for the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, but he had better luck in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class as he finished 5th overall! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 4th place was fellow JC driver Paul Ciccarello!

The weekend prior to that he traveled to ACCEL RC in Gay, WV for their Regional Off-Road Championship event. He competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes and would come home with the double TQ and win!

Crossing over the stateline we now visit the Tiltyard in Dayton, VA. This track hosted Round 3 of the VCS (Virginia Off-Road Championship Series), and team driver Brian Miskolczi reports that he and his son Layton competed in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class. Brian would suffer a DNF in the main, but his son was able to finish in 3rd place!

Making our way down to Mississippi let’s stop in at Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway located in the town of Magee. This track held their Bring The Heat trophy event so let’s see how the team finished up starting with JC driver Brian Henn. He competed in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and he would finish 6th in e buggy and 2nd place in e truggy!

Team driver William Ables was also at this event, and he would set the TQ and then race on to take the win in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

JConcepts driver Drew Spurgeon signed up for the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes for this event. He would finish 2nd overall in the truggy class, while in buggy he grabbed the TQ after two rounds of qualifying then took the W in the A Main by an entire lap!

Over in Oklahoma we get our next report from team driver Tyler Keel. He recently competed in the 4th round of Taylor Park RC Raceway’s dirt oval points series in city of Yukon.

When the dust had settled he would lock up 2nd place on the podium in the Open Sprint class!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Jon Dell. He and his son Jake recently competed in Rounds 5 and 6 of the Nitroxcross National Series over in the UK. Round 5 was on Saturday and Jake would finish 6th overall in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 3rd place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy! For Round 6 on Sunday he finished 8th in nitro buggy and grabbed another 3rd place finish in e buggy!
