In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to California team driver, Trevor Olins!
1. How did you first hear about RC car racing? Once you got started what class did you participate in to begin with and why?
I first heard about RC car racing from my dad’s friend who use to race back in the day. When I first got into racing I started with an 1/8 scale electric buggy and a 1/10 scale 4wd buggy.
2. For the rest of 2024 what races, series, or other RC related event are you looking forward to attending and why?
For the rest of 2024, I plan on attending Wicked Weekend and AMS (Alabama Manufacturer Shootout). I also plan on racing the JBRL (Jimmy Babcock Racing League) 1/8 scale series along with club racing at my local tracks.
3. In your opinion, what classes have you noticed that seem to be in a decline? And how would you try to resolve this so there is more participation?
I’ve noticed a decline in 4wd Short Course Truck at my local tracks. To promote the class, it would be great if more tracks had loaner cars to let people try them and get more people involved in the class.
4. JConcepts is well known for its tires and bodies, but in your opinion what tool or accessory is a must have on race day that other drivers might overlook?
All of the JConcepts products are awesome, but the one tool/accessory that I believe is a must have on a race day is the JConcepts Aluminum Ride Height Gauge and Metal Car Stand. The Metal Car Stand is an awesome tool to not only hold your car but to also redo your shocks and diffs.
5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?
When I am not racing RC, I like to go to Glamis sand dunes with my family. I also enjoy golf.
