Race Team Update – August 2024 Week #2

The JConcepts race team continues to heat things up on the track for the second weekend in August. Read all about it in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report in South Carolina in the city of Easley where Easley R/C Complex is located. This past weekend they held their Caroline Cup 2.0 trophy event, and team driver Derrick Harris would finish 5th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 4th place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Crossing the stateline we now make our way to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they held their 1/8 ProTek Challenge trophy race so let’s see how the team finished up starting with the team driver Dave McEwen. He would register for three classes and would finish the event with a 7th place finish in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, 2nd place in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus the TQ and win in Pro4!

Team driver Rusty Mihelich competed in both the 40+ 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes at this event. He would finish 3rd in nitro buggy along with the win in e buggy! His daughter Maddy long would TQ Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and go on to take the win, plus picked up another W in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy too!

Our next stop is at LC Raceway in Griffithsville, WV. There we find team driver Wade Piggott who recently competed in their Pulled Pork 500 event. He competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes and he would double-down in both classes with two wins!

Making our way up to Michigan let’s get our next update from team driver Mike Legue. This past Saturday he went to Wicked Pines RC in Wayland to compete in the 4th leg of the Michigan/Ohio/Indiana Tri-State 1/8 Scale Off-Road Series. He signed up for three classes, and when the dust had settled he would finish 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus set the TQ in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! He would grab the win in the nitro truggy class along with the victory in 1/8 Electric Buggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Ilan Sanderson!

Leaping over Lake Michigan we splash down at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken, WI. This past weekend was Round 6 of their Summer Series and team driver Ryan Derenne was in attendance.

He would finish the round with a 5th place finish in 1/8 Electric Truggy along with a 3rd place finish in Mod Stadium Truck!

Moving over to Minnesota let’s make out way to Foley where FTR Raceway is located. This past weekend they held Round 4 of the FTR State Championship, and team driver Joe Scaramell raced in three classes. When the day was over he would finish 10th in 1/8 Electric Buggy, 7th place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and a 5th place finish in 35+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Now let’s head to the “Land of Lincoln” to see how the team finished up at a recent Trigger King R/C event held at Dream Fields Raceway in Waterloo. Starting with team driver Chris Parrish he ran in two classes and would take the Sport Modified overall title with his Equalizer truck! In the Retro class his Bear Foot Racer would tie for the overall, but end up 2nd after the tie breaker was applied!

JC driver Jeremy Mark competed in the Retro, Sport Modified and Pro Modified racing classes at this event, and he would make the finals in racing bracket 2 for the Sport Modified class! He would also make the semi-finals for racing bracket 2 in the Retro class, plus he made the elite 8 round in the Pro Modified class!

Also crushing the competition at this event was team driver Josh Rhodes. In the Sport Modified class he would set the TQ and take the win in the 1st bracket with his Bigfoot IV replica truck, and then in bracket 2 his Grave Digger II truck would come away with the win!

Making our way to Missouri we get this quick update from JConcepts driver Brad Dean. He recently traveled to County Line Raceway and Hobby in the city of Valles Mines to race in their Price Royal trophy event. When the race was over he would come away with the double TQ and win in the Outlaw Sprint and Late Model classes!

Next, let’s fly out west and land in Salt Lake City, UT where Eaton’s Intermountain R/C Raceway is located at. They recently held the Salt Lake Dirt Oval Nationals, and JC driver Shane Wheeler competed in both the Open Sprint and Late Model classes.

His day would end early in the Sprint class after he broke his chassis early on, but his luck was better in Late Model as he finished 2nd overall after the AA Mains!

Now we fly out to sunny California to get a few updates from the team competing at different events. Starting at SDRC Raceway in San Diego this past weekend they held Round 2 of their Endless Summer Series. Team driver Chris Raceles competed in two classes and he would set the TQ in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class, plus he picked up the win in that class along with the W in the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Our next stop in the state is at Auburn RC in Auburn. Team driver Rob Moots recently competed in their Gold Country Classic trophy race, and he would grab two wins in the Mod and 13.5 Sprint classes!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Evan Roeth. This past Saturday he competed at Round 4 of the Skagit River Raceway 1/10 and 1/8 series in Burlington, WA. Not only did he compete in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, but he also was the race director too! At the end of the round he would take home a 2nd place finish!
