Race Team Update – September 2024 Week #1

The opening weekend of September is another winning one for the JConcepts race team! Read about our continued success on the track in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up at Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME. They recently held their Carpet’s What’s Up trophy race so let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Matthew Sousa. He reports that he competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and he would set the TQ for the 4wd class! After the mains were ran he would come away with the win in both classes!

Setting the TQ in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class was his teammate John Cravotta! He would finish 2nd right behind Matthew, and in the Mod 2wd Buggy class he would make the A Main and finish 4th overall too!

JConcepts driver Daniel Sedler also raced in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and he would secure 2nd place!

Daniel was busy the weekend before competing at another event in the Northeast. He went to Hobby Etc in Manchester, NH to compete in their NH State Champs which brought out 135 entries! He raced in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would set the TQ and then drive away with the win!

Our next stop is at Riverview Raceway in Jersey Shore, PA. They recently held a dirt oval trophy event and team driver Matt Adams was in attendance. He competed in the 17.5 and Midget Sprint classes, and he would finish 3rd in the 17.5 class while also taking the TQ and win in Midget!

Heading down the coast we now stop in at Adrenaline RC in Winchester, VA. They just held their Vintage Nationals and team driver Jose Zayas competed in the 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes. He would race on to finish 2nd in truck along with the TQ and win in buggy!

Crossing the stateline we now visit Overcash RC Raceway in Salisbury, NC for this quick report from team driver Derrick Harris. He recently went there to compete as they hosted the 4th round of the King of the Carolinas Shootout Series, and he registered for both the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He would make both mains and finish 9th in e truggy and 7th place in e buggy!

Next, we are on to Ohio to get an update from team driver Chuck Berg. This past weekend he competed at TARCAR in the city of Toledo for their Past Members Memorial Race. When the event wrapped up he would take the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Aaron Buran!

Working our way up to Wisconsin we next stop in at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in the city of New Franken. This past weekend they held the finals for their Summer Series, and team driver Ryan Derenne raced in two classes.

When the round was over he would finish 8th in 1/8 Electric Truggy along with a 5th place finish in Mod Stadium Truck!

Heading down to Iowa we stop in at Leighton Raceway in the town of Leighton to see how the team performed at their recent September Showdown dirt oval trophy race.

Starting with team driver James Nelson he let us know that he finished 2nd overall in the 360 Sprint class!

Team driver Chilly Duncan competed in the 21.5 Street Stock class and he would come home with the win in the finals!

Kicking it down to Kansas we now stop in at Checkered Flag R/C Raceway in Bonner Springs. This past weekend they held their Racing For Heroes trophy event and team driver Matthew Pyle competed in the 10.5 Late Model and 13.5 Sprint classes. He would qualify 2nd overall in both classes and then race on in the feature to take the double win!

Setting the TQ and finishing 3rd in the 13.5 Sprint class was his tire teammate David Alberico!

Moving south we now stop in at MOJO Hobby in Oklahoma City, OK. This past weekend they held their SOS Bob Light Summer National, and team driver David Alford signed up for the 10.5 Sprint class. He would make the bump from the B Main to finish all the way up to 3rd place in the A Main!

Also competing at this race was his fellow JC driver Billy Caldwell. He would also make the main in the Outlaw Sprint class after bumping out of the B Main, and would finish 10th overall when he had to retire early with a DNF. He still had a great time and was running fast with his sprint car that weekend!

Heading east we make our way into Arkansas and stop in at Eldo R/C in the town of El Dorado. JC driver William Ables recently competed there for their Oil Field trophy race in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and he would set the TQ then race on to take home the win!

Staying in the state we now head to VPRC Raceway in the city of Alexander for our next race report. JConcepts driver Drew Spurgeon traveled there last weekend to compete in their Beat the Heat dirt oval event. He registered for the Open Sprint and Late Model classes, and he would drive on to take the double TQ and win in both!

Continuing to the Southeast we now stop in at RC3 in Huntsville, AL for this report from JC driver Randy Enger. This past weekend he went there to compete in Round 4 of their points series in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would set the TQ in the nitro class, then race on to take the win in both mains!

Shooting over to Texas let’s get this quick update from team driver Brian Henn. This past weekend he went to Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter since they hosted Round 8 of the HARC (Houston Area RC Series). He ran in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would finish round in 4th place after the AA Mains were ran!

Now let’s fly out to sunny California to get our next update from team driver Chris Raceles. This past weekend he went back to SDRC Raceway in San Diego to compete in Round 3 of their Endless Summer Series. He would end the day with a 5th place finish in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy along with a 2nd place finish in 40+ 2wd Buggy!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Jarod Ment. This past weekend he went over to New Zealand to participate in the Waikato Pro Invitational indoor carpet race. This annual event used a Reedy race format, and when the points were tallied up he would finish 1st in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes which also gave him the overall title for this event!
