Race Team Update – September 2024 Week #3

It was another winning weekend for the JConcepts race team! Read about it for yourself in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down in Tampa, FL where SS Hobbies & Raceway is nestled at. They were the host track to Round 6 of the 2024 1/10 FRCC (Florida RC Championships), and team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. doubled down at this event with two TQs and wins in the 13.5 Stadium and Short Course Truck classes! Joining him on the SCT podium in 2nd was his tire teammate Tom Sherman!

Moving north along the coastline we stop in at Sumter RC Speedway in Sumter, SC.

The final round of the TSOC (Two States One Championship) was held there, and team driver Ennis Graves finished the round with a TQ and 2nd place in 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Crossing the stateline we now stop in at Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they held Round 1 of their Super 7 Winter Series, and team driver Josh Parrish was ready for action as he took the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

His tire teammate Dave McEwen also competed in this opening round of the series, and he would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy plus netted two TQs and wins in 13.5 4wd Buggy and Pro4 Short Course Truck!

Continuing north we now catch up with team driver Brian Miskolczi. He and his son Layton recently competed at Round 5 of the VCS (Virginia Off-Road Championship Series) hosted by Leaned Out Raceway in Disputanta, VA. Brian would finish 8th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy while his son Layton set the TQ and finished 2nd in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Team driver Maddy Long also threw down laps at this event, and she would double up with two TQs and wins in the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes! Her mom Stacey Mihelich took the win in the Sportsman 1/8 Electric Buggy class, while her dad Rusty Mihelich (taking this photo 😀 ) finished 8th overall in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy after some electric gremlins!

Our next stop is at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA. This past weekend they held their Race Against Cancer event that brought out 287 entries! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with JC driver Ethan Mackanick. He reported that he competed in the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, and he would wrap up the event with a TQ in nitro plus wins in both classes! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 3rd place is his teammate Aydan Manchanda!

Aydan also competed in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class where he took the TQ and win!

His father Vin also got in on the racing action. He signed up for the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and just missed out on the bump spot to the A Main. The best news of all from this event is that they were able to raise $26,145 for charity!

On to Ohio we catch up with team driver Mike Legue. This past weekend he was in the city of Toledo where TARCAR is located to compete in the final round of the Glass City Series. He signed up for the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and he would end the round with a TQ and 2nd place in e buggy along with the win in the nitro class!

Kicking it south into Kentucky we meet up with JConcepts driver Chris Parrish. This past Saturday he attended the Bluegrass Monster Mash that was held on the south side of Louisville. He competed in three classes at this event with great results!

  • Retro class: TQ then 2nd and 3rd in racing
  • SportMod class: TQ then 2nd and 3rd in racing
  • LMT Spec class: 2nd place

Crossing the stateline to the south we now move into Tennessee to get an update from team driver Wade Piggott. He recently competed at RC Farm in Crossville for the 1st round of the Blue Collar Dollar Tour. He raced in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and would come home with the double TQ and win!

Continuing south we now make our way to RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club) in Huntsville, AL. Over the weekend they just wrapped up their Summer Point Series and JC pilot Randy Enger was able to capture the titles in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes!

Staying in the state we get another update, but this time from JConcepts driver Shane Wheeler. Over the weekend he went to Lil Dega RC Dirt Oval in Eastaboga to race in the Papa Willy’s Rubber Tire Nationals.

He competed in three classes, and he would just miss the transfer spots to the Open Sprint and Late Model classes, but he had better luck in Midget Sprint as he took the W!

Next, we make out way to Taylor Park R/C Raceway in Yukon, OK for this quick update from team driver Jordan Hefler. He competed at this track over the weekend for their annual Street Stock 250. He competed in an impressive five classes and came home with a lot of hardware!

  • Street Stock = TQ and 1st place
  • SC Mod = TQ and 1st place
  • Sprint = DNF in B Main
  • Midwest Mod = 1st place
  • Late Model = 1st place

He also earns our coveted “ironman” award for racing in five classes too!

Moving into Missouri we now stop in Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs to see how the team finished up at the finals for their indoor point series. Starting with team driver Shane Alberico he let us know that he would finish 2nd in 17.5 2wd Buggy along with a 1st place finish in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

His tire teammate Orlando Martinez was also at the finals, and after the season points were calculated he would finish 2nd overall in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 1st place in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Heading north on I-35 we now stop in at Hobby Haven in Urbandale, IA. Last weekend they held their annual Hobby Haven Shootout, and we had many drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Mack Vanderbeek.

He let us know that he would TQ and take the win in both the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck classes!

Team driver Chilly Duncan would also finish 3rd in 13.5 Stadium truck, 2nd in 13.5 Short Course Truck and he also took the TQ and win in Vintage 2wd Buggy!

Team driver Carter Larson would also pick up the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Working our way into Wisconsin we get our next report from JConcepts driver Ryan Derenne. He recent went to Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken to race in their Best of the Rest trophy event.

After the dust had settled he would finish 10th in 1/8 Electric Truggy along with a 4th place finish in Mod Stadium Truck!

His daughter Olivia even got in on the racing action as she finished 7th in Sportsman 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Staying in the state we now head over to Rick’s Hobby Farm in New Richmond. This track was host to the finals for the MNRC Minnesota Off-Road Racing Series, so let’s see how the team finished up starting with JC driver Joe Scaramell. After the season points were calculated he would finish 8th in 40+ Nitro Buggy and 3rd overall in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Also competing at the finals was JConcepts driver Josh Ford. When all the racing was complete he would finish 3rd in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and 1st place in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class!

Now we fly up to the Pacific Northwest for our next update. Team driver Evan Roeth went to Skagit River Raceway in Mount Vernon, WA over the weekend to race in their series finale. He would end up taking the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and joining him on the e buggy podium in 2nd place was JC driver Robert Sorjonen!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Ben Panic. He and his son Zac went to the south of Sydney to Canberra for the weekend to compete in the 2024 Clay Cup. When the event had concluded Ben would finish 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Zac would compete in the Juniors class and also finished in 2nd place!
