Race Team Update – October 2024 Week #1

The opening weekend of October is a busy one for the JConcepts race team as they keep winning the most from coast to coast! Read about our continued success in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report in the upper Northeast at Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME. This past weekend they held their Haunted Maximus trophy event, and team driver John Cravotta was at this race scaring away the competition. When the race was over he would finish 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and take the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Joining him on the 17.5 podium was his tire teammate Matthew Sousa who TQed this class, and Matt would also grab another TQ plus the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Next, we head down to Pennsylvania and stop in at Riverview RC Raceway in the city of Jersey Shore. This past Saturday they held their Susquehanna Showdown trophy race and team driver Matt Adams competed in the 17.5 Sprint and Midget classes. He would finish the event with a 5th place finish in Midget, 4th place finish in the Sprint class, plus the top qualifier award in the Midget class too!

Heading down the coast we now stop in at Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester, VA for our next report. This past weekend they held their 8th Annual 2024 Adrenaline RC Invitational that brought out 170 entries! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with JConcepts driver Javon Mallory. He let us know that he competed in the Invite 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and he would finish 7th in e buggy and 6th place in the nitro class!

Fellow JC driver Gloop Mahey signed up for the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1/8 Electric Truggy classes, and when the dust had settled he would finish 5th in truggy along with a TQ and 2nd place finish in e buggy!

Team driver Maddy Long would double down at this race with two TQs and wins in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes! Her father and team driver Rusty Mihelich would set the TQ and finish 2nd overall in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class as well!

JConcepts pilot Ethan Mackanick threw down laps in the Invite 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and he would lock up the final podium spot in both!

Now we cross the stateline into North Carolina to get a few updates from the team competing at different events. Starting with team driver Dave McEwen he recently went to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama to compete in Round 2 of their Super 7 Winter Series. He signed up for three classes and when the round was over he would set the TQ in the Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes along with Pro4 Short Course Truck, then he would race on to finish 2nd in wheeler, plus picked up the win in the other two classes!

Our next update in the state was submitted to us by team driver Marlowe Bright. He recently went to Overcash RC Raceway in Salisbury to compete in their Ed Riley Memorial Race. He would end up finishing 10th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy along with a 4th place finish in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Also competing at this special race was his tire teammate Derrick Harris. He ran in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and he would event with a 12th place finish in e buggy and 8th place in e truggy! The best news of all is that the racers were able to raise over $2,700 for Ed’s family at this race too!

Now we move into Georgia to quick for this quick update from team driver Jason Westfall. This past weekend he went to Sweetwater Raceway in the town of Powder Springs for their Megabucks Shootout Race.

He would end the event with a 3rd place finish in Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd overall in the Mod Stadium Truck class!

Moving over to Mississippi we now stop in at Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway in Magee for this quick update from team driver William Ables. Last weekend was this track’s final race of the season, and William went out in style with the win in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class! When the series points were added up he would also take home the season title for this class too, along with the driver of the year award!

Turning back to Tennessee we now get a few updates from the team competing at different events. Our first stop is at ROCCK Racing in the city Knoxville. This past weekend they held their Knox Vegas trophy race that brought out over 200 entries! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Jerrid Wright.

He reported that he would lock up the final podium spot in the Sportsman 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Team driver Jonah Wilson competed in two classes and he would end the event with the double TQ and W in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

JC driver Bella Rogers reported that she finished 6th overall in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class along with a 3rd place finish in Pro 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Our next report in this state is from team driver Randy Enger. He recently went to Bullet Town RC in Milan to compete in their Tennessee Fall Shootout trophy race, and he would wrap up the event with a 4th place finish in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Over in Ohio we catch up with team driver Wade Piggott. This past weekend he visited the town of Corning where Dillon’s RC Raceway is located. This track was host to the final round of the OEOSS (Ohio Extreme Off-Road Summer Series), and he would finish the round with a TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes!

Leaping over to the “Land of Lincoln” we check in to see how the team finished up at the final event of Trigger King R/C series that took place at the JB Scale Graphics Field of Dreams in city of Waterloo. Starting with team driver Josh Rhodes he reported that he took a bracket win in the Sport Modified class! In the Pro Modified Class he took the overall victory for the day with a Semi Finals appearance in Bracket 1, a TQ in Bracket 2, and a second place finish in Bracket 2!

Also crushing the competition at this event was his tire teammate Chris Parrish. In the Retro class his Master of Disaster replica rig made it to the final four for both brackets! His Equalizer truck made the semi-finals in the Sport Mod class, while in the Pro Mod classes his Indominus monster truck finished 1st in Bracket 1! When the series points were calculated he also took home the season championship in the Sport Mod class, along with a 3rd place finish in the Retro class!

Making our way into Missouri we now stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs for this quick report from JC driver Jeremy Cathlina. Last Saturday was the season finals for their dirt oval series, and after all the season points were tallied up he would take home the title in the Midwest Mod, Open Sprint and Open Late Model classes!

Now we make out way up to The Toy Box R/C Track in Richmond, WI. They recently wrapped up their Summer Series and team driver Thor Ott would take home the overall title in the Pro 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Next, we stop in at Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City, IA for this quick report from team driver Jacob Sweisberger. Last weekend this track held their first carpet oval Winter series, and he set the bar high already with a TQ and win in both the Open Oval and 21.5 Street Stock classes!

Heading west we now make our way to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE to see how the team finished up at their opening round of their Winter carpet off-road series. Team driver David Peavler reported that he set the TQ in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, 13.5 Stadium Truck and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes, and then he would race on to finish 2nd in 40+ along with wins in the other classes!

Also competing in this round for the team was JConcepts driver Andrew Thomas, and he would take the W in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Shooting down to Texas we stop in at San Antonio where Oatesified Off-Road RC Raceway is located.

This track hosted a recent round of the RC Pro Series, and team driver Todd Geary would finish 7th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 6th place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Flying out west we touch down at SDRC Raceway in San Diego, CA for this quick report from JC pilot Chris Raceles. Last Saturday was Round 4 of their Endless Summer Series, and he would finish 8th in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy plus 2nd place in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy!

Heading north we stop in at PDX RC Underground in Portland, OR for this next report from team driver Ashon Bristol.

This past weekend he traveled there to compete in their 4th Annual JConcepts West Coast Carpet Championship, and he would race on to finish 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and 1st place in Mod 4wd Buggy! Joining him on the mod wheeler podium was fellow JC driver Austin Cracknell in 2nd place!

Heading even further north we meet up with team driver Shane Preugschat. He recently we to Walla Walla, WA for the final round of the Northwest Championship Tour. He competed in three classes, and he would wrap up the event with a DNF in the finals of Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy, but his luck was better in the Open 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes as he took the TQ and win in both! After the season points were added up he would also finish 3rd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy along with two 1st place finishes in Open 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Let’s now get some updates from our International team starting with team driver Alberto Garcia. He recently competed in the Buggyland event held in Madrid, Spain where he finished 2nd overall in the 35+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Now let’s head down to Australia to see how the team finished up at the recent RCRA 1/10 Electric Off-Road Australia Titles held at the Hills Off Road RC club in Castle Hill, NSW.

Starting with team driver Jordan Isergin he reported that after all the racing was done he would finish 8th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 5th place in Mod 4wd Buggy!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Lachlan Donnelly. He also competed at this event over the last several days, and when the dust had settled he would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd, plus two TQs and wins in the Mod 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes!
