Race Team Update – October 2024 Week #2

Two weeks of racing in October are in the books and it looks like there is no stopping the JConcepts race team! Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out in sunny California. The team was hard at work competing at a few different events in the state, so let’s get our first update from team driver Phi-Long Nguyen. This past weekend he went to Thunder Alley RC Raceway in Saugus to compete in their Nitro Explosion trophy event that brought out 243 entries! He would sign up for the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and end the event with the TQ and win! Joining him on the nitro podium in 3rd place was fellow JConcepts driver Adam Drake!

Our next update in the state is from the Boneyard in the city of Menifee. This past weekend the So Cal Monster Trucks season finale was held there and JC driver Michael Letcher was in attendance. After the season points were tallied up he would finish 3rd in the Pro Mod Racing class along with 1st place in the Retro Racing division!

Also competing in the finals was fellow JConcepts driver Jessica Dahl. She competed in the Pro Mod and Retro Racing classes, and she would make it to the finals in the Retro class!

Next, we head over to Hobby Action RC Raceway in Chandler, AZ for our next update. Last weekend they held their 2024 BK Classic, and team driver Sam Ford reported that he finished 2nd overall in the 13.5 Stadium and Short Course Truck classes! He was also the concourse winner with his vintage B2 buggy, and his son Casey took home the W in the 17.5 Locked Timing 4wd Buggy class!

Shooting over to Texas we get our next update from team driver Brian Henn. This past weekend he went to Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto to compete in their Masters race event, and when it was all over he would finish 10th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 5th place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Moving north we make our way to Taylor Park Raceway in Yukon, OK. This past weekend they held their 2nd annual SJD Southern Nationals, so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Kevin Mcnatt. He raced in the SC Mod class and would set the TQ and finish 3rd overall!

JC driver Nathan Dean competed in the Open Sprint class and he would race on to take the TQ and win! Joining him on the podium were fellow JC teammates Randy Lathrop (2nd), Tyler Keel (4th) and Jen Lathrop (5th)!

JConcepts pilot Kevin Lenderman competed in two classes at this race event. He would finish in 4th place in the SC Mod class, plus he picked up the win in the 10.5 Sprint class!

Moving over to Missouri we get our next update from team driver Andrew Thomas. This past weekend he went to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs to race in Round 5 of their Summer Series. He would end the event with a 3rd place finish in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, and joining him on the podium in 1st place was his tire teammate Nick Gibson!

We now make our way to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE to get a few updates from the team competing at different events held there.

Inside The Plex on Saturday was the opening round of their Winter Dirt Oval series, and team driver Will Brinton would take the TQ and win in the 410 Sprint class!

Outside on the rocks team driver Alex Sturgeon was competing in their 2nd Annual Flex At The Plex rock crawling event. When the event had wrapped up he would finish 1st overall in Class 2!

Crossing over the Missouri River we now stop in at Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City, IA.

This past Saturday they held the opening round of their Winter Series, and team driver Jake Wiggs let us know that he would take the TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes along with Mod 2wd Buggy! His tire teammate Jacob Sweisberger would finish 2nd right behind him in both spec buggy classes!

Over in Ohio the team was hard at work competing at a few different events. Our first stop in the state is at EN Hobbies & Raceway in the city of Columbus. This facility was hosting the opening round of their Midwest Carpet Off-Road Series and team driver Aaron Pendleton would finish 2nd overall in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Taking the TQ and W in this class was fellow JC driver Brandon Marsh! Brandon would take the TQ and win in 13.5 4wd Buggy too!

Our next stop in the “buckeye” state is the city of Corning where Dillon’s RC Raceway is located. Over the weekend they held their Harvest Havoc trophy race and JC driver Wade Piggott would finish with the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Now we make our way to The Tiltyard in Dayton, VA to see how the team finished up at the VCS (Virginia Championship Series) finals that took place there over the weekend. Starting with team driver Maddy Long for the finals she would set the TQ in both the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Nitro Truggy classes, then race on to finish 3rd in truggy plus picked up the win in e buggy! When the series points were added up she would take home the title in both classes!

Team driver Brian Miskolczi and his son Layton were also racing at the finals too. Brian would finish the day in 4th place for the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finish the year 2nd overall! Layton would take home the win in the final race of the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class and also finish 2nd for the entire series!

Heading down the coastline we now stop in at Zoo City Raceway Park in Asheboro, NC. This past weekend they held their Rebuild Trophy Race, and team driver Derrick Harris competed in both the Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy and Buggy classes. He would just miss out on the bump spot in e buggy, but in truggy he made the A Main and would finish in 6th place!

Also throwing down laps at this event was fellow JConcepts driver Ryan Rand. He competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and he would set the TQ in e buggy, and then after the mains were ran would take home 1st place in both classes!

Team driver Marlowe Bright also competed in these same two classes and he would finish 10th in e buggy and 3rd place in the nitro class!

Next, let’s head down to South Carolina to get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks. Our first update is from High Voltage RC Speedway in Anderson. They recently held their Royal Rumble event and team driver Ennis Graves would take home the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Moving to the coast we now catch up with team driver David Olsen. This past weekend he went to Beach RC in Myrtle Beach to throw down some left turn laps in their Dixie Nationals dirt oval race that saw 232 entries! He signed up for the Midget Sprint class and would finish in 4th place!

Our next update is from team driver Will Scott. This past weekend he went to Steve Raddatz Memorial Raceway in Tuscumbia, AL to compete in their Steve Raddatz Memorial Race, and he would finish the event with a 2nd place finish in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Now let’s get some updates from our Australian race team who was competing at a few different events recently. Our first stop is at the Knox Club in Melbourne for the final round of the Victorian Drivers Series. Team drivers Ray and Lachlan Munday attended the finals and Lachlan would set the TQ in the Mod 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes, while his father Ray set the TQ in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

After the mains were ran Lachlan would finish 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy, 2nd place in Mod 4wd Buggy and took the win in Stadium Truck! Ray would finish 2nd in both Mod 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck too! When the series points were calculated Lachlan would take home the title in all three classes!

Also competing for the team at the finals was JC driver Jordan Isergin, and he would take the win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class at the finals!

He recently competed in the MORBC Madness Race, and he would finish 7th overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!
