Race Team Update – October 2024 Week #3

The JConcepts race team keeps things rolling as they complete another week of competitive racing events around the world. Read about our continued success in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at Metz R/C Raceway in Blackfoot, ID. This past weekend they held their Halloween Havoc trophy race and team driver Shane Wheeler was in attendance. He competed in several classes and when the event was over he would finish 2nd in Late Model along with double TQs and wins in the Mod Sprint and Midget classes!

Moving down to Colorado we stop in at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora. This past weekend they held their Matt Chambers Memorial Race, and team driver Sam Ford would finish in 3rd place in the 13.5 4wd Buggy and Open Short Course Truck classes!

Now we head back west and stop in at sunny California for this quick update from team driver Jeff Guest. The finals for the JBRL 1/10 Scale Series took place at Hot Rod Hobbies in the city of Santa Clarita over the weekend, and after the season points were added up he would take the overall championships in the 40+ 13.5 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes!

Now we head to Arizona to get a few updates from the team competing at different events. We first check in with JC driver James Rodriguez who was competing at M&M Mile RC in Casa Grand for their Fiesta Bowl dirt oval event. He raced in three classes and would finish the event with a 14th place finish in Outlaw Sprint, 9th place finish in Open Late Model and a 6th place finish in the Super Stock class!

Staying in the state we now get our next update from JConcepts driver Dustin Grandbois. He recently competed at The Nitro Compound in the city of Maricopa for their 2024 OctoberFest, and he finished in 2nd place in the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Now we shoot over to Texas for our next update. Team driver Jordan Hefler recently raced at Thunderbird RC Speedway in Palestine for Round 8 of the WFO Dirt Oval Series that saw 176 entries! He would compete in four classes and finish with a DNF in Late Model, a 2nd place finish in Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Mod, plus the TQ and win in the SC Mod! Joining him on the SC Mod podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Kevin Mcnatt!

Heading north we now visit Shaw’s RC in Ardmore, OK for our next race report. This past weekend they held their Shaw’s Truck Nationals that saw 179 entries! Team driver Colton Jones would compete in the Sportsman 1/8 Electric Truggy class where he finished in 4th place!

Next, we head east to Georgia to get a few updates from the team competing at different races. Starting with team driver Shay Brand he let us know that he traveled to the Loganville RC Complex in the city of Loganville to race in their Halloween trophy event. When the dust had settled he would set the TQ in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class then race on to finish in 2nd place, plus grabbed another 2nd place spot in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class too!

Taking the win in the e buggy class was his tire teammate Cade Burnette!

Our next update in the state comes to us courtesy of team driver Chris VanRaemdonck. This past weekend he raced at Chehaw RC Raceway in Albany as they hosted the Georgia Off-Road Championship Series.

He signed up for four classes and he suffered a DNF while leading the finals for the 1/8 Electric Truggy class, but he had better luck in his other classes as he would grab the TQ and W in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes along with Mod 2wd Buggy!

Heading up the coast we now visit Red Brush RC in Mount Airy, NC. Over the weekend they held their Halloween Havok race and team driver Derrick Harris competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. When the event was over he would finish in 9th place in e buggy and 6th overall in e truggy!

Staying in the state we get our next update from JConcepts pilot Dave McEwen. He recently traveled to Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama to compete in Round 3 of their Super 7 Winter Series. He registered for three classes and would end the round with a 4th place finish in 13.5 4wd Buggy and two 1st place finishes in Mod 2wd Buggy and Pro4!

His tire teammate Josh Parrish was also racing in this latest round of the series. When the racing was complete he would finish 1st overall in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes which included a TQ in 2wd!

Continuing north we now stop in at PLRC (Power Line R/C) in Fredericksburg, VA for this quick report from team driver Brian Miskolczi. Over the weekend he attended their 2024 OktoberFast race and he would TQ all rounds of qualifying then race on to take the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

His son Layton also threw down laps in this class and finished 6th overall, plus he grabbed the 2nd podium spot in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class too!

Team driver Jose Zayas was also at this event and he raced in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and when the racing was done he would finish in 5th place in both!

Now we wiggle our way over to West Virginia for this quick update from team driver Wade Piggott. He recently went to LC Raceway in Griffithsville to compete in their Halloween trophy event, and he would come home with the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class along with another W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Punching our way over to Pennsylvania we stop in at Oakland Mills where LCRC Raceway is located at. This past weekend they held their Halloween Classic which brought out 218 entries! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Tom Petrella. He raced in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and he had some gremlins knock him out of contention in the nitro A Main, but luck was on his side in the e buggy main as he finished in 2nd place!

Also throwing down laps at this race was his tire teammate Gloop Mahey. He signed up for two classes and would finish 8th overall in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class and 3rd place in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Team driver Vin Manchanda was also competing at this event in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and he would finish in 9th place!

His son Aydan also competed over the weekend in this race. When the event was complete he would finish in 11th place in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy Main after suffering a DNF, but he had a solid run in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy main as he wrapped up 5th place!

Moving over to Michigan we now get our next update from team driver Mike Legue. He recently raced at Sandpit RC in Jonesville for their trophy race, and he would set the TQ in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes! He would then go on to suffer a DNF in the e buggy main, but in the nitro main event he cruised on to take the win!

Working our way over to Wisconsin we get our next update from team driver Ryan Derenne. This past weekend he went to Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken to compete in their Fall brawl trophy race.

He competed in two classes and would wrap up the event with two 3rd place finishes in the 40+ 2wd Buggy and Mod Stadium Truck classes!

Our next stop is at the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE. This past weekend they held another round of their Carpet Syndicate Series, and team driver Jacob Sweisberger reported that he would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd and Expert 17.5 Buggy, plus he netted the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

His JConcepts teammate David Peavler was also at this round and signed up for three classes. At the end of the day he would finish 3rd in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy along with two 1st place finishes in 40+Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck!

Our final updates this week come from our Australian race team. This past weekend the inaugural Grumps Memorial Cup race in Illawarra was held which was a 1/8 nitro off-road event, so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Jarod Ment.

He would take the TQ after three rounds of qualifying then race on to take the win in the finals!

 

Also competing at this race was his tire teammate Ben Panic. He would make the main event but had to retire early due to a DNF. He was running fast till that point as he battled Jarod for the TQ spot in qualifying, but overall he still had a great time at this new race event!
