In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Iowa team driver, Jacob Sweisberger!
1. When did you get your start with RC cars? Did you bash your RC cars at first or jumped right into the RC racing scene once you found out about it?
I started in 2019 when Bad Fast Hobbies opened in my area. I bought a Slash 2wd and got into racing it in Novice right away.
2. In your area you compete in a lot of off-road carpet racing. Some racers can struggle to glue carpet tires due to their harder compounds, so what are some tips you can share to make this task easier?
Clean your rims and tires first. I take my time, but also I pick a thicker glue. Makes it easier to predict and doesn’t go everywhere.
3. In your opinion, what needs to be done to make RC more “mainstream” and get more people involved?
Somehow more money needs to get to the tracks and hobbies stores so they can stay open and flourish, and also to get more involved with the community, radio shows, commercials, etc.
4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?
I’m an avid user of the F2 style body on all of my cars. They look sick and feel right for my type of driving style.
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
I fly RC airplanes and I love to fish in tournaments.
