Friday5 With Team Driver Tyler Pattenaude

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Illinois team driver, Tyler Pattenaude!

1. Let’s get a little background on your start to RC racing. Were you introduced to it by a friend, family member, or maybe read about or watched something on social media?

My dad had heard about it through the news and started doing it when I was a younger. Once I turned around seven he introduced me to it and I’ve done it ever since!

2. Which type of racing format do you prefer and why. A trophy race that runs over a weekend or a single day event with multiple rounds in a points series?

Most events that have big entry counts and will span over multiple days. I like to attend those bigger races, so I would go for the trophy race.

3. In your opinion what is your biggest personal win to date and why?

Other than my podium at the 2023 ROAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road Dirt Nationals, I would probably say that my favorite win was at Trackside Hobbies & Raceway for the US Buggy Championship. I was happy with how I drove that weekend and it is my favorite race to date.

4. When it comes to new products released from JConcepts, what are you most excited to see released and why? Is it a new body, new tire, new accessory, etc?

I personally like new tire releases. I’ve been getting into 8th scale some more and I am really enjoying the learning process when it comes to tires. So, when a new tire comes out I really look forward to trying it!

5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?

I enjoy working on my car in my spare time! I just finished rebuilding the engine with all new internals and I really enjoyed every second of it!
