Friday5 With Team Driver Alex Rees

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Iowa team driver, Alex Rees!

1. Let’s get a little background on your start to RC racing. Were you introduced to it by a friend, family member, or maybe read about or watched something on social media?

My Dad had gotten my brother and I Traxxas Slashes and we would compete in the yard. I got hooked and am still racing!

2. As a new driver for JConcepts in 2025, what skills do you feel you bring to the team and what are some of your goals this year?

I bring a good social media presence to the team posting regularly, as well as I’m always willing to help others at the track! My goals for the year are to make top ten in the INS15 points and make the ROAR 1:10 Electric Carpet Off-Road National main.

3. If you had to guess where the 1/10 off-road electric scene is ten years from now, would you expect to see more dirt, carpet, or turf tracks and why?

My guess would be carpet tracks. You see tracks like my home track Island Speedway burst onto the scene the last couple years along with RC ONE Racing and Coastal RC. The carpet scene is continuously growing and evolving, but Dirt/Clay tracks will always be a big scene too.

4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?

As a carpet dominant racer I got to have my JConcepts set of tires. Fuzz Bite rears for both the 2wd and 4wd buggy always gets the job done with the most traction and drive!

5. Name one thing people might be surprised to learn about you.

Something you may be surprised to learn about me is I’m a decorated track and field athlete as well! From my two years of high school so far I’m a five time state qualifier and a three time state finalist. This year the goal is to win it all!
