Race Team Update – March 2025 Week #3

It was another winning weekend for the JConcepts race team as they keep the competition green with envy on tracks around the nation. Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report our west at Rain-Man’s Hobby and Raceway in Bakersfield, CA. Last weekend they held their annual off-road trophy event for the 28th year in a row, and team driver Rob Moots would finish 9th in 40+ 13.5 2wd Buggy and 5th place in 40+ 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Making an angle to Arizona we stop in at Adobe Mountain R/C Speedway in Phoenix. Last weekend they hosted the Arizona State Champs, and it was a podium sweep for JConcepts in the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class as team drivers Chris Wheeler (1st), Adam Peters (TQ and 2nd) and Josh Keith (3rd) filled out the podium! Chris would also finish 3rd in Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy while Josh would take the W in Pro4 Short Course Truck!

Staying in the state we now visit Hobby Action RC Raceway in the city of Chandler. Last Saturday was the opening round of their points series, and JC driver Diego Betancur is off to a great start as he picked up the win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Shooting over to Texas let’s get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks. Our first track visit is at Amarillo Raceway Park in Amarillo. This past weekend was their Spring Regional Championship, and JConcepts driver Scott Brewer came home with the victory in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Our second track to visit in Texas is Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter. This past weekend they hosted Round 3 of the HARC (Houston Area RC) Series, and in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class team drivers Joel Rodriguez would finish 3rd while his tire teammate Frosty St.Clair would end up in second!

Moving on we now visit FORC Raceway in Jonesboro, AR. This past weekend they hosted their March Madness trophy event that brought out nearly 200 entries! We had many drivers in attendance so let’s see they performed starting with team driver Nate Sutherland.

He signed up for three classes at this event, and he would set the TQ then grab the win in the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy, Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck classes!

JC pilot Patrick Rossiter Jr. would finish 2nd in Stadium Truck, plus he grabbed the TQ and win in Open 2wd Short Course Truck!

JConcepts driver David Alberico would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy, plus he picked up wins in the 40+ 2wd Buggy and Mod 4wd Buggy classes!

His son Shane would lock up two 5th place finishes in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

Team driver Braden Bruce let us know that he finished 3rd in both the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, plus he also netted a TQ and win in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Team driver Drew Spurgeon also competed in three classes at this race, and he would finish 3rd overall in 40+ 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck, plus a 2nd place finish in Vintage Buggy!

JConcepts team driver Braxten Culley would set the TQ in the Mod 4wd Buggy class, then he raced on to finish 3rd in Mod 2wd and 2nd place in Mod 4wd!

Moving up to Missouri let’s a few updates from the team competing at different events. We first stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO to see how the team wrapped up the finals for their weekly points series. Team driver Jack Foster reported that he finished 4th in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

His tire teammate Orlando Martinez would finish 1st overall in the same two classes after all the points were tallied up!

Our next stop in the ‘show me state’ is at Childress RC Racing in the city of Bourbon. Team driver Mike Bufka was in attendance to crush the competition as he took the W in the Pro Mod Penda Drags class!

Next, we make our was to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE to see how the team finished up at another points series. Starting with team driver Brandon Kearney he let us know that he would wrap up the series with a 2nd place finish in 1/8 Electric Truggy and 1st place in 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Team driver Mitchell Pavel would take 7th place in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 4th place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy as well!

Staying in Nebraska we now visit the town of Aurora where Jensen RC Raceway is located. Last weekend they held their 2025 Battle In The barn trophy event, and team driver Will Brinton took the win in the 410 Sprint Class!

Heading up I-29 we now visit Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City, IA for our next update. This past weekend was also their Winter series finals, and team driver Jake Wiggs would take home the overall titles in Mod and 17.5 2wd Buggy plus 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Heading up further north we now visit FMRC (Fargo Moorhead Radio Control) Raceways in Dilworth, MN to get this quick update from team driver Marco Moreno. This past weekend was Round 5 of their Winter Series, and he would finish the round with two 4th place finishes in 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy, plus the TQ and W in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class!

Crossing the stateline we now visit Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI to see how the team finished up at their Wide Open Wudke Memorial Race that brought out 200 entries!

Starting with JConcepts driver Ryan Derenne he let us know that he would finish in the B Main for 40+ 2wd Buggy and 10th overall in the Mod Stadium Truck class!

Also competing for the team at this special event was JC driver Steve Richter. He would sign up for four classes at this race and put in solid results in all of them!

  • Vintage 2wd Buggy – 1st place
  • Mod Stadium Truck – 4th place
  • 40+ 2wd Buggy – 5th place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy – 6th place

This special race which also coincided with their Smacktalk Showdown. The track would hand out WWE themed championship belts to each class winner, and that driver would keep the belt till the following year. Team driver Richie Peters also competed in four classes in this event, and he would put in some great results as he finished off the competition!

  • 13.5 4wd Buggy – TQ and 1st place + keep the belt
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy – 2nd place
  • Mod Stadium Truck – 3rd place
  • Mod 2wd Buggy – 2nd place

The best news of all is that the racers would raise over $5,000 for grieving family too!!

Staying in Wisconsin we now visit The Toy Box R/C Track in New Richmond for this quick update from JC driver Tyler Aubart. This past Saturday was another round of their points series, and he would double up in this round with wins in both the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes! Joining him on the 17.5 podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Tony Sletten!

Leaping over Lake Michigan we splash down at Sandpit RC in Jonesville, MI. This past weekend they held another Nitro Series event, and team driver Kyle King would finish 6th overall in 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Bouncing south to the ‘Hoosier’ state we now visit RC Fun Park one more time which is located in Granger. Sadly this was the final event held at this track so let’s see how the team performed starting with JC driver Kyle Munson.

He registered for two classes and would finish 8th in 17.5 2wd Buggy, plus picked up the W in the Mod 2wd Short Course Truck class!

His tire teammate Chris Rothwell would finish 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 2nd place in 17.5 2wd Buggy!

Now let’s rock out and head down to Knoxville, TN where ROCCK Racing is located. This past weekend was their Blue Collar Dollar Tour, and team driver Bella Rogers would take the W in both the 1/8 Nitro Truggy and Electric Buggy classes!

Next, we head up the northeast and stop in at R/C Excitement in Fitchburg, MA. This past weekend was their Supercross trophy race, and team driver Antonio Caputo Jr. took the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Heading down the coastline we stop in at Red Brush RC in Mount Airy, NC. Last weekend was their Race 4 the Crazies trophy event, and team driver Derrick Harris would finish the event with a 9th place finish in 1/8 Electric Truggy along with a 6th place finish in 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Staying in the state we get another report from JC driver Ennis Graves. This past weekend was the grand opening for Road Kings RC Raceway in Concord, and he would break it in with style as he took the TQ and 2nd place in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Maccoy Martin. This past weekend he attended Round 3 of the Carpet Wars at Beachline Raceway in Cocoa, FL, and he would come home with the TQ and win in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!
