Race Team Update – April 2025 Week #1

The opening weekend of April is another winning one for the JConcepts race team which you can all about in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up at Maximus R/C Raceway in Seabrook, NH. This past weekend they held their Iron Maximus trophy race, and team driver Matthew Sousa would shred the competition with a double TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

Moving south we now stop in at RC Madness in Enfield, CT for this quick update from JC driver Antonio Caputo. Over the weekend he attended their season opener trophy race, and he would come home with the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Continuing down the coast we now crawl our way down to Rock and Race Place in Cedarville, NJ. They recently held another crawler competition, and team driver Jason Edwards would finish 2nd in Class 2, plus picked up wins in classes 1 and 3!

Working our way west we now visit Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI. Last weekend was Round 11 of their Winter Series, and team driver Ryan Derenne was in attendance.

After the round was complete he would finish 4th in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy, plus pick up the win in the Mod Stadium Truck class!

Also throwing down laps at this race was team driver Richie Peters. He would set the double TQ then race on to take the wins in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

Moving to Minnesota we now visit RC Underground Inc. in the town of Warren. This past weekend was the finals for their Winter Series, and JC pilot Marco Moreno would finish the day with a 3rd place finish in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, plus the TQ and W in 13.5 Stadium Truck! When the series points were calculated he would finish 3rd overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy, 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and he would also take home the series title in the truck class!

Heading south we now make our way to Island Speedway in Muscatine, IA to see how the team finished up at their recent carpet series event. Starting with team driver Mike Salkowski he let us know that he just missed the bump to the A Main in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, and he would also finish 3rd overall in the 40+ mod 2wd Buggy class! Taking the TQ and win in the 40+ class was his tire teammate Jamie Thompson!

Also competing for the team at this race was fellow JC driver Jake Wiggs. He competed in three classes and would finish 5th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy along with 3rd place finishes in 13.5 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck!

Next, we fly down to Huntsville, AL where RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club) is nestled at. This past weekend was their season opened that saw over 150 entries! Team driver Robert Romano competed in two classes at this race, and he would finish 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy plus a TQ and win in Mod 4wd Buggy!

Shooting over to Texas we now visit RCCA (RC Car Club of America) in the city of Fort Worth. Last weekend they held their trophy event which brought out 140 entries! Competing for the team was JC driver Mike Stoll, and he would finish the race with 6th place finishes in Mod 2wd and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, plus 3rd place in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Our next stop is at Metz R/C Raceway in Blackfoot, ID. This past weekend was also their season opener, and team driver Shane Wheeler would set the bar high with a TQ in the 13.5 Sprint, SC mod and Midget Sprint classes!

In the mains he would have some bad luck in 13.5 Sprint as he finished with a DNF, but his luck went better in his other two classes as he captured 2nd place in SC Mod and also took the win in the Midget class!

Crossing the state line we now visit PDX RC Underground in Portland, OR to see how the team performed at their recent trophy event. Starting with team driver Ashon Bristol he would finish 2nd overall in the Mod 2wd Buggy Invite class!

His tire teammate Joseph Levin would take the overall title in the Stock Invite classes after the racing was all complete!

Next, we cross the border and head to the Big Barn Shootout RC event that took place at Chilliwack BC, Canada. This event saw 431 entries so let’s see how the team finished starting with team driver Evan Roeth.

He made both of his mains and would suffer a DNF in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class, but luck was on his side in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class as he came away with the TQ and win!

Also competing for the team at this race was JConcepts driver Shane Preugschat. He let us know that he finished 6th overall in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class, plus the TQ and win in the 40+ 1/8 nitro Buggy class! Joining him on the 40+ buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JConcepts driver Peter Tozser!

Also competing in this race was team driver Robert Sorjonen. He signed up for four classes and put in some solid results!

  • Mod 4wd Buggy – TQ and 1st place
  • Pro4 Short Course Truck – TQ and 1st place
  • Spec Tire 1/8 Electric Buggy – 2nd place
  • Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy – 5th place

He also earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award this week for competing in the most classes at one RC event!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Tyler Wilbur. At this same race he would enter the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and finish 5th overall in both of them!
