The JConcepts West Coast Off-Road team headed to the popular Coyote Hobbies for the first ‘Stock Nationals’ in many years. The invitational class used the Reedy Race format making it a very tough and highly intense event to participate in, and very exciting to watch.
On top of the Invitational class, there were also 10 other standard classes battling it out for race and event wins. Those classes used standard qual-points qualifying with the best 2/3 rounds counting. The invitational class ran 10 individual rounds for both 2wd and 4wd with 9/10 rounds counting for each class.
Qualifying Results:
17.5 2wd Buggy: 1st Gary Slater
13.5 4wd Buggy: 3rd Gary Slater
17.5 Short Course: 2nd Jonathan Schultz
17.5 Stadium Truck: 1st Gary Slater, 3rd Randall Tanaka
40+ 13.5 4wd: 1st Randall Tanaka
40+ 17.5 2wd: 3rd Randall Tanaka
Invitational 2wd:
Davey Batta would lead the charge in invitational 2wd taking 6 wins that coupled with 3 second place finishes would give him 12 points overall for the class. Levi Raymond and Dominic Paccione would both finish with 15 points 3 points back of Batta.
Invitational 4wd:
Levi Raymond would be the lowest points scorer in 4wd with 4 wins and 16 total points. Matthew Gonzales, Davey Batta, and Sammy Moran would all tie for 2nd with 19 points.
Overall:
Davey and Levi would tie after all 10 rounds in both classes with the tie breaker being a hot lap battle. Davey would go on to win the battle and the whole event.
