Race Team Update – January 2026 Week #3

It was another winning weekend for the JConcepts team at tracks around the nation. Read more about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at Hobby Action RC Raceway in Chandler, AZ. This past weekend was Round 1 of their March Madness points series, and team driver Tyler Aubart raced in two classes and would finish 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd overall in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Team products used:

Shooting over to Texas our next stop is at Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in the city of Porter. This track hosted Round 1 of the MSM Southern Showdown that saw 181 entries! We had many drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with JC pilot Brian Rohde. He registered for two classes and would finish 2nd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy along with the W in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

JConcepts driver Brian Henn also raced in two classes, and he would finish with two TQs and 2nd place finishes in 1/8 Electric Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Team driver Todd Geary also competed in two classes in this round, and he would finish with a 6th place finish in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy and 5th overall in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy! Joining him on the 40+ nitro buggy podium was team driver Frosty St. Clair (TQ & 1st)!

Heading north we now stop in Nebraska to get a few updates from the team competing at different RC events. Our first report is from team driver Sam Ford. He and his wife Danielle went to Randy’s RC Toybox in town of Mitchell to compete in a trophy event. When the racing was done he would finish with the TQ and W in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class plus Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy! His wife would take the win in the Novice class too!

Our next update in the state takes place at the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha. This past weekend was Round 3 of their Winter series that brought out 192 entries!

Team driver Brandon Kearney signed up for two classes, and after the dust had settled he would finish 6th overall in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy along with a 2nd place finish in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! Taking 3rd overall in the truggy class was his tire teammate Connor Herrick!

JC driver Mitchell Pavel raced in the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, and he would suffer a DNF in the nitro class but had better luck in e buggy as he finished 4th overall!

Next, we make our way to FMRC (Fargo Moorehead Radio Control) Raceways in Dilworth, MN for our next update. This past weekend was Round 3 of their Winter Series, and team driver Marco Moreno kept himself busy competing in three classes as he finished 10th in 17.5 2wd Buggy, 6th overall in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 3rd place in 13.5 Stadium Truck!

Our next stop is in the state of Michigan that had several RC events taking place last weekend. Starting with team driver Matt Brienzo he let us know that he went to Limitless R/C in Millington to compete in Round 3 of the Midwest Carpet Off-Road Series that saw 237 entries!

He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class where he would take home 1st place!

Also competing in this event was team driver Brandon Marsh. He would set the TQ in both the Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck classes then race on to finish 2nd in truck plus picked up the W in the Mod 2wd class! Joining him on the Mod 2wd podium in 2nd place was his tire teammate Ilan Sanderson! Ilan would also grab another podium spot by finishing 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Our next visit in the state is at Sandpit RC in Jonesville. This past weekend this track hosted Round 4 of the Electric Series, and team driver Michael Rinke would take home the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Our final pit stop in Michigan is at Excel RC and Hobbies in Garden City. This location hosted the 1st point race of the year for the Michigan Monsters of RC. Team driver Russ Bryant was ready to crush the competition as he would finish 2nd overall in the Pro Shafty class along with the a TQ and win!

Sending it south we now visit the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany, IN. Last weekend was Round 3 of their point series, and team driver Wyatt Gaskins reported that he would lock up 2nd place in Mod 4wd Buggy! Joining him on the podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Bryson Furnish! Bryson would also finish 4th in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

Also throwing down laps at this race was in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class was team driver Robert Stevens who finished 2nd overall!

Crossing the state line we now visit ARCS Hobbies in Ashtabula, OH for this quick update from JConcepts driver Jackson Neer. He competed there last weekend in a trophy event and he competed in five classes with great results!

  • 13.5 Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st place
  • Pro 21.5 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st place
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 1st place
  • Mod 2wd Buggy = 3rd place

He also earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award this week for competing in the most classes at a single RC event!

Heading to the Northeast we now catch up with team driver Jonathan Sohl. This past weekend he went to T&T Hobbies in Middletown, NY to race in their Winter Wars trophy event.

He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would finish just outside of the A Main group!

Heading down the coastline now we make our way to Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester, VA. This track hosted the USRC Winter Championship last weekend, and team driver Javon Mallory would finish the event with a TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class along with another W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Tyler Scofield. This past weekend he competed in the opening round of the 1/10 Florida RC Championships that took place at SS Hobbies & Raceway in Tampa, FL.

He signed up for three classes and would finish the round with a 6th place finish 17.5 2wd Buggy, a 5th place in 13.5 4wd Buggy plus a 3rd  place finish in Mini Truggy!
