The JConcepts Team made the trip to Richmond Virginia for the 2018 Solid Axle Showdown put on by the Team at Showtime RC Motorsports.
Showtime RC Motorsports was started by brothers Rafael and Marlon Cox who have been monster truck and RC enthusiast for over 20yrs. The event took place at SCOR, the Sports Center of Richmond, which is a huge indoor/outdoor recreation facility and had a very unique surface for this years event. The indoor turf track had a mixture of small beads that allowed the surface to give a little making it a somewhat slick surface for the trucks.
We also spent some time talking to Matthew Hall, he had several great Monster Truck builds with him but the two that stood out were his Bear Foot truck and his Rolling Vengeance themed Monster Truck. Freestyle RC built an amazing chassis based on Fred Shafer’s 1991 Bear Foot. Matthew also had a custom 3D printed body made based on the 1987 film Rolling Vengeance. A truck originally built by famed Monster Truck builder, Mike Welch.
The JConcepts Team had a great showing, dominating all of the Monster Truck classes. The Renegades and Firestorm Tires were tough to beat all weekend long.
JConcepts Team Driver Russ Bryant would take the overall win in the Open class with Teammate Matt Stoltz finishing second. In the 2.2 class we had Sonny Santucci taking the overall win with his Dad, Ronnie taking second and Russ Bryant finishing third. Morris Aschkenas would take his JConcepts equipped Retro to the top of the podium in the Retro class running Firestorm tires.
Our next MT event will be up in Beaver PA for the JConcepts Monster Cross. Visit https://www.facebook.com/JCMonsterCross/ for more details.
