There was a ton of racing last weekend which just means more podiums and dominance by the JConcepts race team! Please read this week’s Race Team Update to find out where!
Let’s start this week’s report out in California at LSR Speedway in Sacramento. Last weekend they hosted the Sactown Throwdown and let’s see how the team performed.
Team driver Jay Wedsted competed in both the Expert Stock Buggy and Stadium Truck classes and finished 2nd on the podium in both! He said both vehicles were competing using Gold compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses along with Finnisher bodies and an Aero wing package.
Also competing at this event was team mate Kyle Layton. Kyle reported that after a close battle on the track he finished 2nd overall in the Mod 2wd Buggy class! His Team Associated B6.2 was running fast thanks to JConcepts Silver compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses along with a F2 body, Aero S-Type rear wing and Mono wheels.
Now let’s fly east to Oklahoma to check on the racing action at Battleground RC Speedway in Muskogee. Last weekend they hosted their annual North South Shootout and we had several drivers in attendance so let’s see how they did.
JC driver Tyler Keel reported that he competed with his new Sprint car chassis along with competing in Midwest Mod. At the end of the race he finished 20th in Sprint and 6th in Midwest Mod! He said he learned a lot on his new chassis and both cars competed with Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses.
Also racing at this event was team driver Brian Stanton. He competed in both the Outlaw Sprint and Open Latemodel classes. He qualified 3rd overall in both running Ellipses on the rear and front for his Sprint car, but switched to Dirt Webs on the front instead for his Latemodel. During the day and the first round of qualifying he used the Aqua compound, but once the sun went down he switched over to the Green compound. He had some bad luck in the Latemodel class and had to retire early, but in the Sprint class he was able to take the win!
Now let’s head northeast into Missouri to check on the team in Joplin. Team driver Matthew Pyle attended Central City Raceway for the finals of the “In The Dirt” points series which consists of traveling to three different tracks. He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and qualified 2nd but took the win in the main! He used a S15 body, F2I rear wing, and JConcepts Reflexes in the Green compound. After the points were calculated he would finish third overall for the series despite missing a round. Nice job Matthew!
Now let’s head back to the northwest into Nebraska to check out the team competing at the HobbyPlex in Omaha for Round 5 of their Summer Series.
In the 13.5 4wd Buggy class it was a podium sweep for the JConcepts team! Young driver Owen Vanderbeek took first place running on Gold compound Ellipses, a F2 body, Mono wheels and an Aero wing package. Bradley Peterson took 2nd while competing with Gold compound Ellipses, a F2 lightweight body and an Aero S-Type 6.5″ wing. And rounding out the podium was Orlando Martinez who used Gold compound Ellipses in the rear, Dirt Webs in the front, Mono wheels, a F2 lightweight body and an Aero S-Type 6.5″ wing.
In the 13.5 Stadium Truck JC driver Nate Sutherland took the win followed by team mate Drew Rubenking in 2nd!
In the competitive 17.5 2wd Buggy class Bradley once again made the podium but this time in 1st with the TQ and win! He said he used Gold compound Ellipses in the rear, Dirt Webs in the front, a P2 lightweight body and an Aero S-Type 6.5″ wing.
In the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class it was another sweep for the JC crew as team drivers Kyle Gannon (1st), Mack Vanderbeek (2nd) and Alex Sturgeon (3rd) filled up the podium!
In the Mod 2wd Buggy class it was another podium sweep for the JConcepts race team! Tom Rinderknecht took the TQ and win using a 22 5.0 P2 lightweight body, Silver compound Ellipses in the rear with Dirt Webs in the front. Second place went to JC mate Alex Vanderbeek who used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear, Mono wheels, a F2 body and Aero wing package. And finally team driver Will Brinton secured the final spot on the podium.
In the Mod 4wd Buggy class it was once again Tom taking the TQ and win using a 22X-4 F2 lightweight body, Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing! Joining him on the podium in 3rd was Alex again who used Gold compound Ellipses, a F2 body, Mono wheels and an Aero wing package!
Now let’s jog back up northeast to Wisconsin to check in with team driver Cole Tollard. He was in Reeseville competing at Clark RC Park for Round 5 of their points series and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! For the 20 minute main he used Green compound Stalkers and earlier in the day when the track dried out with a groove he was using the Aqua compound.
Staying in Wisconsin let’s head over to New Franken to check in with JC driver Ryan Derenne who was racing at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway for the 7th round of their Summer Series. He took the TQ and win in the Mod 4wd Buggy class using Silver compound Ellipses and a F2 body! He also raced in the 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy class and once again came away with the TQ and win! This time he used a P2 body along with Silver compound Ellipses and an Aero wing package.
Now let’s head to New Richmond to check out Round 3 of the MNRC Series hosted at Rick’s Hobby Farm. Team driver Joe Scaramell competed in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished a solid 3rd place overall! He started the day on Green compound Reflexes and as the track came in he switched over to Blue compound ReHabs, and for the main he switched to R2 compound Rehabs.
Also racing at this event was JC driver Kyle Holmberg. He reports that he took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class for the 30 minute main! He used A2 compound Detox tires for the main. Joining him on the podium in 3rd was team mate Tony Sletten!
Now let’s head over to Michigan to check out the racing action at RC ONE Racing in Township which hosted the Pro-Line Challenge Race. Our driver Collin Miles reported that he podium twice at this race by taking 2nd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 3rd in the Stadium Truck class! He said Sliver compound Ellipses where hooked up.
Now let’s head southwest into Illinois to check on the team at the 2020 Midwest Fall Classic at Next Level RC in Carterville. JC driver Ryan Mcclain reports that he took the win in the 4wd Buggy class while running on Blue compound Sprinters!
Now let’s head out east to Pennsylvania to see how the team did at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills for their Race Against Cancer event. JConcepts driver Matt Adams reports that he competed in two classes and qualified 2nd overall for the mains with both vehicles. He finished 8th in Mod 2wd Short Course Truck and 3rd overall in Mod 2wd Buggy! His SCT used Green compound Double Dees and a Hi-Flow body while his buggy was running on Green compound Sprinters with a F2 body.
Heading further east let’s stop in at Round 5 of the RCMTNY points series hosted by RC Madness in Enfield, CT. Ethan Saunders swept the podium in the Pro-Mod class using JConcepts Tribute wheels, Blue compound Renegades, a 2012 Chevy Illuzion, 2006 Ford F-150, and 1979 Ford F-250 bodies!
His dad Jason had a good event too as he took 1st and 2nd in the Retro class while using Golden Years tire in the Blue compound, a 1982 GMC body, the Regulator chassis conversion kit, Tribute wheels and Blue compound Firestorms.
And team mate Kyle DeFalco locked up the point series title for the ProMod and Retro classes that day too! In ProMod he used Blue compound Renegade tires on Tribute wheels, and in the Retro class he was running Blue compound Golden Years tires mounted on Tribute wheels.
Now let’s head down the coast to North Carolina to check out the finals for the TSOC Series (Two States One Championship) which were held at Red Brush RC in Mt. Airy. JC driver Logan Cowick reports that he wrapped up the Nitro Truggy championship for the 2nd consecutive year while using a Finnisher body and Reflex and Ellipse tires all on Mono wheels!
In the 1/8 Electric Buggy class team mate Ken Rand Jr. wrapped up the championship while using Bullet wheels, Blue compound Reflexes and a F2I wing!
Staying in state let’s check in with team driver Luis Diego who competed at Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama for a recent cash race. He took the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class while running on Green compound Dirt Webs! And in the Mod 4wd Buggy class he took the TQ and finished in 2nd using Octagons in the Black compound.
Now let’s go south into South Carolina to see how team driver Dustin Pratt did at the Low Country Classic at Sumter RC Raceway in Sumter. He said he took 3rd place in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! He said that JConcepts Green compound Detox tires were the tire to use at this race.
Over in Alabama, the team was competing at the 11th Annual Steve Raddatz Memorial Race at Steve Raddatz Memorial Raceway in Tuscumbia. Team driver Willie Scott competed in two classes and took the TQ and win in the Stadium Truck class and 3rd overall in 4wd Buggy! His truck was running Carvers on the front and Goose Bumpes in the rear while his wheeler used Blue compound Sprinters on all four corners.
His team mate Drew Williams was also in attendance and he reports that competed in 5 classes that weekend! Here is how he did in each class and the JConcepts equipment he ran:
- 4wd Buggy class – 1st place on Green compound Double Dees
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy – 2nd place on Blue compound Triple Dees
- 1/8 Electric Buggy – 1st place on Blue compound Reflexes
- 1/8 Nitro Truggy – TQ and 1st place on Blue compound Triple Dees
- 1/8 Electric Truggy – TQ and 2nd place on Blue compound Triple Dees

Now let’s head down to Florida to check in on team driver Dustin Spallone who recently competed at Newberry RC Park in Newberry. He competed in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win while running on Green compound Sprinters!
Finally, let’s check in with our overseas team. Team driver Clément Boda reports that he took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes at a recent race near Paris, France! He said he used a F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing.

Nebraska is the Northwest huh!!! Might have been a team driver or 2 that won their classes at the Northwest Championship Tour Round 3 in Yakima WA though… Good job to all!!
Correct, Nebraska is technically Northwest of Missouri.
