The votes are in and it was another great weekend of racing for the JConcepts race team! It didn’t matter if the states were red or blue, it was another win for the JC crew which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!
Let’s start this week’s race report in Hutchinson, KS at the 35th running of the Fall Classic at HP Hobbies. There were 172 entries spread out over 12 classes for this event. We had several drivers competing so let’s see how the team did.
Team driver Matthew Pyle reported that he competed in both the 2wd and 4wd Mod Buggy classes and after the AAA mains he finished a solid 8th place in 4wd and 3rd in the B Main for 2wd! He used slicked out Silver compound Ellipses along with a P2 body on his 2wd car.
JC driver Ken Peterson reports that he finished 1st in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 8th in Mod 2wd Buggy! He also ran Silver compound Ellipse slicks and F2 bodies.
Charles Day was also in attendance and competed in 3 classes: Mod 2wd Buggy, Mod 4wd Buggy and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy. He put all 3 buggies into the triple A mains and finished 9th in Mod 2wd Buggy, 10th in Mod 4wd Buggy and 3rd in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy! He also ran on Silver compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks.
Team mate Braxten Culley also competed in the 2wd and 4wd Mod Buggy classes and said he finished 2nd overall in Mod 4wd and 3rd place in Mod 2wd! Joining him on the podium in the Mod 4wd Buggy class was team mate Michael Twilling!
And his younger brother Jentsen also took the TQ and 3rd in the Novice class! They both ran on slicked out Silver compound Ellipses and F2 bodies.
JC driver Alex Sturghill, son of the legendary Colorado JC driver Rob Sturghill, raced in the Sportsman 17.5 2wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win while using Silver compound Ellipses!
Like I mentioned earlier, JC mate Michael Twilling was also competing and finished a solid 4th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy! On his Mod 4wd he ran Silver compound Ellipses that were sanded down to slicks (see a theme here yet?) and on his 2wd car he ran Silver compound Dirt Webs up front and slicked out Silver compound Ellipses in the rear. Great driving team!
Now let’s head south into Oklahoma to check in on the team who were racing at Taylor Park in Yukon for their Nightmare on Dirt event.
Starting first with team driver Brian Stanton, he competed in both the Open Sprint and Late Model classes, and he took the double TQ and win in both! Both cars ran Green compound Ellipses on the rear but his Sprint car also ran them on the front while his Late Model used Green compound Dirt Webs. All tires were glued up on Mono wheels with Dirt Tech inserts.
Team mate Kevin Lenderman was also racing and competed in the SC Mod, Midwest Mod and Open Sprint classes. He finished in 2nd place in the SC Mod class while competing with Green compound Sprinters on black Hazard +3mm wheels! In Midwest Mod he finished 4th over while using Green compound Sprinters on white Mono wheels. Finally, in the Open Sprint class he just came short of transferring out of the B Main and said he was running on Green compound Dirt Webs up front with Green compound Ellipses in the rear, all on white Mono wheels.
Heading further south let’s check in with team member Shane Wheeler who was competing at the RC Pro Series finals hosted by Indy RC World in Garland, TX. He competed in both the Midwest Mod and Wingless Sprint classes and he reported that he took the TQ and win in the Wingless Sprint class while using Green compound Ellipses in the front and Green compound Sprinters in the rear! And in the Midwest Mod class he would end up 3rd for the day while running on Blue compound Ellipses on all four corners. When the season points were tallied up he would finish 2nd in Midwest Mod and 3rd overall in Wingless Sprint!
Now let’s head out east to North Carolina to check in on team driver Justin Doyle who was racing at Thunder Alley Raceway in Lucuma. He said he took the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class while running on Silver compound Ellipses!
Now let’s head north into Virginia to Wytheville to see how the team performed at the Blue Ridge Nationals hosted by SRS (Scale Racing Sports). Let’s start with team driver Tom Petrella who made the long trip over to compete in both the 1/8 40+ Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He set the TQ in the nitro class and after the main was complete he would lock up the final spot on the podium! His rig was ripping it on Green compound Ellipse and Reflex tires. In the 1/8 40+ Electric Buggy class who would qualify 2nd overall but a few mistakes and electrical issues would drop him to 6th place for the event. His car ran on Green compound Detox tires.
Joining him on the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy podium was JC driver Carl Lebo. He would take 2nd overall in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class after 30 minutes thanks to his Silver compound Ellipses and Silencer body!
Also racing was his JC team mate Ken Rand Jr. After the 30 minute A main he would take the win in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class! He said he used the same set of Gold compound Ellipses all weekend long for all the qualifiers and the A Main!
And racing in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Truggy classes was team member Cody Saner. He would finish 5th overall in Nitro Truggy and took the TQ and win in the Electric Truggy class! Both trugs ran fast on Blue and Gold compound Ellipses.
Now let’s fly up northwest to Jeffersonville, OH to tour the Ohio RC Factory for their 1st round of the 1/10 Factory Racing League. Team driver Brandon Marsh competed in 3 classes and put in some great results!
- 1st in Mod 2wd Buggy
- TQ & 1st in 17.5 2wd Buggy
- 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy
All vehicles were running on slicked out Silver compound Ellipses.
Now let’s head into Michigan to check in with team driver Logan Wendling. He attended Washtenaw R/C Speedway in Ann Arbor for their 1st round of their point series which had a great turnout with 126 entries. He was able to take the TQ and win the 13.5 4wd Buggy class while using Silver compound Ellipses on Mono wheels!
Heading south into Indiana, let’s check in with team driver Kyle Munson who was at RC Fun Park in Granger for the Indiana Indoor State Champs race which saw 170 entries. He raced in the Stadium Truck and Mod 2wd SCT classes and took the TQ and win in Truck and also a win in SCT! Both trucks used Ellipses in the Silver compound.
Moving west into Iowa let’s head down to Knoxville which is the “Sprint Car capital of the world”. This is also the location of B-Fast RC Raceway and team driver Nate Sutherland reported that he took the win in the Sprint class (RC, not full scale) while running on Silver compound Ellipses!
Finally, let’s roll west into Nevada to check in on the team at 702 Raceway in Las Vegas. Our drivers were competing at their King of Carpet event and team driver John Caudillo reports that he finished 8th in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 3rd in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! He used the JConcepts Twin Pins in the rear, Swaggers in the front, plus a Servo Mount Bracket and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing.
Team driver Mike Sorchy also made the trip over and raced in Sportsman 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck. He took 4th in truck and 3rd in buggy while using the following JC goods:
