Two weeks into the new month and the JConcepts race team stays hot out on the RC tracks around the globe which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report at Impact RC Raceway in Morris, IL. They were host to the 2021 Chi-Town Shootout which featured over 300 entries competing in 10 classes. We had numerous drivers at the event so let’s get a few updates from the team starting with driver Curtis May.
He reports that he competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and finished 6th overall while running on Silver compound Ellipse tires!
Teammate Wesley Gifford reports that he finished 13th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 9th overall in Mod 4wd Buggy while using the following JConcepts gear!
- F2 bodies
- Fin Black Titanium Turnbuckles
- Mono wheels
- Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing
- Gold compound Ellipse tires sanded down to slicks
JC driver Ryan Derenne also competed in the following classes: 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy, Mod Stadium Truck, and 13.5 4wd Buggy. He would fail to transfer out of the lower mains for 13.5 4wd Buggy, just missed the bump spot in the B Main for Mod Truck, and qualified 7th but settled for 10th overall in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! All three cars ran on Silver compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body on his truck.
Team driver Richie Peters competed in both the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes and would finish 8th overall in both! He used Silver compound Dirt Webs up front and Ellipses in the rear, Finnisher bodies and an Aero wing package.
Heading east we land Enfield, CT which is home to RC Madness. Team driver Eric Bresnahan “unretired” his 17.5 2wd Buggy and was able to put it back on the podium with a TQ and win! He used Nessi and Swaggers glued to 9 Shot rims along with other JC aluminum goodies.
Heading south along the coast we stop in at Thunder Alley in Lucama, NC. They recently ran Round #4 of their Super 7 Winter Series and team driver Josh Parrish brought his A game that day with three wins!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy – 1st
- 13.5 4wd Buggy – TQ and 1st
- Stadium Truck – TQ and 1st
All three vehicles were equipped with Silver compound Ellipses along with S2 bodies on both buggies.
Also competing at this race was JC driver Luis Diego. He also had a dominating performance as he won in both of his classes too while running on Silver compound Ellipse tires!
- Mod 4wd SCT – TQ & 1st
- Mini Truggy – TQ & 1st
Now let’s go down to Georgia looking for a race report to steal. Stopping in at AJC Speedway in Acworth we find this report from team driver Chris VanRaemdonck.
He was recently in attendance for some club racing and competed in the Pro 17.5 2wd Buggy class. He qualified 2nd overall for the main but walked away with the win while running on Swagger and Lockness tires, Mono wheels and a P2K body!
Next, we head west into Oklahoma to get a few updates from the team who were competing at several tracks in the state. Starting with Heath Lawson he recently attended Mojo Hobbies in Oklahoma City to compete in the Outlaw Sprint class and would finish 4th overall! He ran on Aqua compound Ellipse tires in the rear with Dirt Webs up front in the same compound. They were all mounted to Mono wheels in the white color option.
Next we get the following report from JConcepts driver Brian Stanton. He was in Enid at Spring Creek R/C Speedway competing for the first time on their indoor oval track. It might have been his first time there but he looked like a savvy veteran as he walked away with three TQs plus a 1st place finish, a 4th place finish and a DNF. He ran Green compound Sprinters secured to 9 Shot wheels.
Now let’s head even further west to Cali and stop in at SDRC in San Diego to get this combined team driver race report from Rick and Austin Riley. Starting with Austin, he competed in the Intermediate 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would finish 4th and in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class he would end up 3rd overall! Both buggies ran on sanded down Silver compound Ellipses. Rick competed in the Sportsman 17.5 2wd Buggy class with a 21.5 motor and would finish 2nd for the day! He used Octagons on his ride and once again proved that slow is fast when it comes to RC racing.
Next, we go to Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont for this update from team driver Andrew Swanson. He competed at Round #8 of the JBRL Nitro Series hosted there and after the race day had completed the season points were calculated and he would come away with season title in the Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!
Finally, we get this overseas update from team driver Lachlan Donnelly. Last Friday he went to Hills Off Road RC in Castle Hill, Australia for some on-road racing. Then on Sunday he went back from some off-road racing and took the TQ and win while running Blue compound Sprinters and Aqua compound Ellipses!
