As the calendar year is winding down to the end, the JConcepts race team continues to march forward with wins on the track which you can read about in this new edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report at Badlands RC Supercross in Myrtle Beach, SC. This past weekend they held their 20th Annual Fall Brawl event which netted over 300 entries competing in 11 different 1/8 classes! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Tyler Jones.
He reported that set the TQ in Pro Electric Buggy, Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truggy! In the mains he would unfortunately break out in e buggy and finish 13th overall, but he had better luck in the nitro classes as he took the double victory! For his buggies he used ReHabs in various compounds like Silver, R2 and O2 while his truggy used Gold compound Ellipses.
In the 40+ Nitro Buggy class JConcepts driver Brandon Melton would set the TQ and finish 2nd overall! His JC teammates Chris Pace (4th) and Aaron Buran (5th) joined him on the podium! Brandon also finished in 9th place in Pro Nitro Buggy and both of his bugs used Silver and O2 compound Rehabs.
Speaking of Aaron, he also competed in the 40+ Electric Buggy class and locked up 2nd place while running on O2 compound ReHabs!
Also competing at this race was JC driver Josh Parrish. He would finish 7th overall in Electric Truggy while running on Aqua compound Ellipse tires plus a F2 body and F2I wing! And in the Intermediate Electric Buggy class he would finish 2nd on the podium while running on Aqua compound Detox tires, a S15 shell and a F2I wing!
JConcepts driver Cade Burnette also competed in the Pro Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes. He would finish 5th overall in Pro Nitro Buggy while utilizing Silver compound ReHabs, Bullet wheels, Dirt-Tech foams, a S15 body and a F2I wing! In the Pro Nitro Truggy class he would finish 2nd overall while running fast on Gold compound Ellipse tires, Bullet Wheels, Dirt-Tech foams, a F2 body and a F2I wing! Joining him on the truggy podium were teammates Tyler (1st), Logan Cowick (4th) and Ken Rand Jr. (5th)!
Speaking of Ken, he also raced in the Pro Nitro Buggy class and after some flameouts during qualifying he was able to bump his way up from the D main into the A and finished 9th overall while running on Y2 compound Detox tires! In Nitro Truggy he said he opted to use Silver compound Ellipses.
Team driver Carlos Segui competed in three classes at the Fall Brawl. He would start 2nd overall for the A Main in the Electric Truggy class and set the TQ in both the 40+ and Intermediate Electric Buggy classes! He would have some bad luck in the 40+ e buggy and e truggy classes as he would break out and finish towards the back of the pack in both mains. However, luck was on his side in the Intermediate Electric Buggy A Main as he took the win! His buggies used Silver and R2 compound ReHabs while his truggy used Blue and Aqua compound Reflexes.
Veering left to Georgia let’s now get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks across the state. This past Saturday was the final round of the 1/10 electric portion of the 2021 SNAP HARD Racing League that took place at the Hobbytown Columbus in the city of Columbus. On the same day the Loganville RC Complex in the city of Loganville held their Race For A Cause event.
Then on Sunday, the 1/8 nitro and electric portion of the SNAP HARD series held its final round at the Loganville RC Complex. We had many team drivers competing at these races so let’s check in to see how they finished up.
Starting with team driver Chris VanRaemdonck he reported that after both portions of the SNAP HARD series had completed he was able to take 1st place in 6 classes this year!
- Mod 2wd Buggy = 1st
- Mod 4wd Buggy = 1st
- Mod Stadium Truck = 1st
- Mod 2wd Short Course Truck = 1st
- Pro Nitro Buggy = 1st
- Pro Nitro Truggy = 1st
Teammate Jason Westfall also competed in both the 1/10 electric and 1/8 portions of this series and he was able to bring home hardware in 4 classes which included 1st place in Pro Electric Buggy!

- Mod 4wd Buggy = 3rd
- Mod Stadium Truck = 3rd
- Pro Electric Buggy = 1st
Fellow JConcepts driver Randy Enger also competed in both programs for the series and after it was said and done he took home awards for 4 classes too!

- Mod 4wd Buggy = 2nd
- Pro Electric Buggy = 2nd
- Pro Nitro Buggy = 2nd
For the final two days of racing Randy said he used sanded down Aqua compound Ellipse tires along with P2 and S2 bodies on his 1/10 buggies, while his 1/8 rides used Blue compound Reflexes and S15 shells. Great job team!
As I mentioned before, on Saturday the Loganville RC Complex held their Race For A Cause event and our driver Shay Brand was in attendance. He would set the TQ in Pro Nitro Buggy, but in the A Main a flameout would drop him towards the back of the pack. He continued to battle and clicked off some fast laps, and as time expired he moved all the way back up to 4th overall! For the main he used Green compound Reflex tires and a S15 body.
Flinging it down into Florida let’s get this quick update from team driver Dustin Spallone. He went to the city of Okeechobee where the 2xtreme Monster Truck Series event was happening for full scale monster trucks. The RC Warriors hosted a RC monster truck race during this full scale event, and Dustin reported that he was able to take the win in the Freestyle class, plus he took home the ‘King of Okeechobee Trophy’ for his overall consistent finishes! Fellow JC driver AJ Marasco also competed at this special event and took home the W in the Racing class! Both trucks used the following gear:

Now we rock out to the city of Knoxville, TN where ROCCK Racing is located. This past weekend they held their Toys for Tots race and team driver Bella Rogers finished 2nd in the Electric Truggy and Pro Buggy classes!
She ran Ellipses on both vehicles, but her bug used the Silver compound while her trug used the Gold compound. Her buggy also used the S15 body and her truggy used a Finnisher lid.
Also competing at this event was teammate Jonah Wilson. He had bad luck in the Pro Nitro class and had to retire after six laps, but he better luck in the Pro Electric Buggy and Truggy classes as he took home the double TQ and win! He used the same tire and body combo as his teammate in both victories.
Heading north we stop in at Independence, OH for an update from JC driver Eric Bresnahan. He recently competed at the US Carpet Off-Road Championships that took place in a conference room at a local Embassy Suites, and he was able to finish 3rd in 13.5 Stadium Truck and take the TQ and win in the 13.5 Short Course Truck class! Both classes required a spec tire, but his trucks were looking sharp thanks to F2 and Hi-Flow bodies.
Moving further north we stop in at Grand River RC in Grandville, MI. This past weekend they held the 2nd round of their Winter off-road points series and team driver Chris Rothwell reported that he finished 2nd overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class while racing on Silver compound Ellipses!
Jumping northwest we splash down in Minnesota for this report from team driver Kyle Holmberg. He went to the Hobby Farm RC Club in Ogilvie to compete at their points series race, and he took the TQ and win in the 13.5 Sprint class while running on Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners!
Our next updates come to us from team drivers Brandon Kearney and Drew Rubenking who were holding down the fort for the team at the 1st round of the Winter Series at IORC in Fort Dodge, IA. Starting with Brandon he said he finished 2nd overall in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes while running Swaggers, Twin Pins, F2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings!
His JC mate Drew also competed in these same classes and would come away with wins and bragging rights in both!
Now we head to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was round 7 of their carpet off-road series and team driver Ethan Delair took another TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while running the following gear!

Moving south we stop at Spring Creek RC Speedway in Waukomis, OK. Recently they held their Godfather Race and team driver Tyler Keel competed in two classes. In the Sprint class he would finish 9th overall, but in the Midwest Modified class he would pick up the win while running on Green compound Dirt Webs in the front, Ellipses in the rear and both tires were stuffed with Dirt-Tech inserts!
Now let’s shoot down to Garland, TX where Indy RC World is located. This past weekend they held their Lonestar Classic race and JC driver Randy Lathrop let us know that he finished 3rd in Expert Electric Truggy and 2nd in 40+ Electric Buggy! His truggy ran on Green compound Reflexes while his buggy used ReHabs in the same compound along with a S15 body.
Teammate Dillon Caldwell was also running at this event and he finished 3rd in Pro Nitro Buggy and took the W in Pro Electric Buggy! His nitro ride ran fast on Green compound Detox tires while his electric car used Green compound Reflex tires.
Now let’s fly out to sunny California to get some updates from the team competing at several events located there. Our first stop is at Bakersfield where Rain-Man’s Hobby and Raceway is located. This past weekend they held their Toys For Tots race and team driver Derek Stephansen toyed with the competition as he took the double TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! In his victories he used sanded Silver compound Ellipses, RM2 inserts in the front tires, F2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
Team driver Jeremy Bunting recently competed at the So Cal Monster Truck Racing Series Winter Finals hosted by Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita. He made it to the semi finals with his Shotgun truck in the Retro class bracket and it was equipped with the following JC goodies!
