Another cold January week of racing is in the books and the JConcepts race team stays red hot on the track! Read about where we were heating things up in this week’s Race Team Update!
Our first stop this week is in Tulsa, OK where the 2022 RC Chili Bowl race event took place. This is by far the biggest RC dirt oval race each year, and this year’s event saw a record 547 entries with 254 drivers in attendance! We also had several member of the JConcepts race team turning left hand laps, so let’s see how they finished starting with team driver Tyler Keel.
He reports that he made the features in both the Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Modified classes! In the end he would finish 9th in Midwest Modified and 8th in Outlaw Sprint!
Teammate David Alford also competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and wouldn’t finish as high as his teammate, but he reported that he had a great time hanging out with friends and the JC crew!
JC driver Brian Stanton also competed at this race and picked up a win in a heat race, but just missed out transferring out of the B Main. He also said he a good time racing with the team this past weekend!
Team driver Robert Chapman competed in three different classes at this event. He would finish 7th in the B Main for the Outlaw Sprint class, 5th in the Midwest Modified class and took the win in the Late Model class! All three of his rides used 9 Shot wheels in the black color option.
Now we head up north and stop in at Hi Performance Hobbies in Hutchinson, KS. This past weekend they put on their 2022 Salt City Challenge, and let’s see how the team finished starting with JC driver Alex Vanderbeek. Alex competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would secure the double win while rolling on Gold compound Ellipse tires in the rear and Dirt Webs up front on his 2wd car, while his wheeler used Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires! Both buggies also used F2 bodies and joining him on the Mod 4wd podium were teammates Nick Gibson in 4th and Owen Vanderbeek in 5th!
JConepts driver Stevie Slover also competed at this event in Mod buggy classes and would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd and 7th in Mod 4wd! Both vehicles used Gold compound Ellipses on all four corners along with S2 and F2 shells.
JConcepts driver Alex Sturgeon not only raced at this event, but he was also the race director too! He would compete in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win while running fast on Gold compound Ellipses in the rear and Dirt Webs up front! Joining him on the podium were JC mates Mack Vanderbeek in 2nd and Ken Peterson in 4th!
His son Emerson would finish 2nd on the podium in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class while running on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires and a F2 body!
Mack also reported that he also finished 2nd in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy while using Gold compound Ellipse tires in the rear, Dirt Webs up front and a F2 body!
Ken also reported that he raced in the Mod 4wd Buggy class where he would finish 8th and also placed 4th overall in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! Ken said on his 4wd car he ran Silver compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks while his 2wd car used ghosted Gold compound Dirt Webs up front and Ellipses in the rear.
Continuing our march north we stop in at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was the 9th Round of their Winter Carpet Series and team driver Ethan Delair continues to be a terror on the rug as he came away with yet another TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class! His winning car used Pink compound Swagger and Twin Pins tires along with a S2 shell and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
Teammate Chance Rohlk also competed at the Plex last weekend in three different classes and came way with the double TQ and win in two of them!
- 13.5 Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st while using a F2 body and Swagger and Pin Downs tires
- Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st while using a P2K body and Fuzz Bite tires
- 13.5 4wd Buggy = 3rd while using Swagger and Twin Pins tires
JConcepts teammate David Peavler competed in two classes and finished 4th in Mod 2wd Buggy while running on Swagger and Fuzz Bite tires, plus a TQ and win in 13.5 4wd Buggy! His winning wheeler utilized the same tire setup as his 2wd car.
Heading east we stop in at IROC in Fort Dodge, IA for the 3rd Round of their Carpet Series. Team driver Drew Rubenking let us know that he took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! Joining him on the Mod 4wd Buggy podium was teammate Brandon Kearney in 2nd place! Brandon would also finish 2nd in the Mod 2wd Buggy class, and both cars were equipped with Fuzz Bites and F2 bodies.
Heading even further east we splash down at Grand River RC in Grandville, MI. This past weekend was Round 2 of the East vs. West series that saw about 185 entries! Team driver Kyle Munson competed in two different classes for this event. In the 17.5 2wd Buggy class he would finish 8th overall while in the Pro2 SCT class he would take the TQ and win! Both rides used slicked out Silver compound Ellipses along with a F2 body for the buggy and Hazard wheels on the SCT.
Also competing at this recent round was teammate Logan Wendling in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class. He would finish 6th in the A Main while running smooth on Silver compound Ellipses!
Next, we dribble down to the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany, IN for our next report. This past weekend they held Round 2 of their Winter Points Series and team driver Justin Green competed in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes.
In 4wd he would finish 3rd for the day while in 2wd he locked up the second podium spot! Both bugs used Smoothie 2 tires, RM2 inserts, Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings, a P2 body on the 2wd and a S2 body on the 4wd.
JC driver Nick Reppen was also racing at this event in the same two classes as Justin and he would go on to finish 11th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and took the TQ and 2nd place in 13.5 4wd Buggy! Both cars used Silver compound Ellipses, RM2 inserts and F2 shells.
Team driver Vince McMahon also made the long trip to this facility to compete last weekend and he would finish 20th in 13.5 wheeler and 14th in 17.5 2wd! Both cars used Smoothie 2 tires glued to Mono wheels.
Now let’s shoot down to Garland, TX where Indy RC World is located. This past weekend they held Round 2 of their Winter Chill Series and team driver Hunter La Flower competed in both the 1/8 Expert Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would take the double TQ and win in both while using Blue compound Ellipses and S15 lids! Joining him on the 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy podium in 5th place was JConcepts teammate Pablo Tejada!
Now let’s get a few updates from our international team starting with team driver Jesper Rasmussen. He let us know that he took the TQ and win at Round 4 of the DRCMU Danish Championship in the Super Stock class!
Finally, Australian driver Lachlan Donnelly checks in to let us know that he recently competed at Hills Off-Road RC in Sydney where he would take the TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! With the outdoor track conditions constantly changing he used a ton of JC product to get his buggies running fast that weekend!
