In this Product Spotlight we take a closer look at the JConcepts Servo Mount Brace. This option part was first designed for the Team Associated B6.3 series, but it is also compatible with the newly announced B6.4 series too.
The JConcepts Servo Mount Brace is constructed from lightweight aluminum and is available in either blue or black anodized color options.
An etched JConcepts.net logo rests on the ‘bridge’ running over the servo, and the silver colored chamfered edges help to highlight the aesthetics of this piece.
The B6.3 and B6.4 kit’s servo braces consist of three pieces that must be combined together as you see here.
But the JConcepts Servo Mount Brace is entirely comprised of a single part, and thanks to its wrap-around design it will cleanly fit over your existing servo without any additional modifications.
On each side of the brace is a small hole that is used with the included 3x6mm set screws. By threading those set screws into the holes until they touch the servo they will help you to align and maintain your servo’s position during racing conditions, crashes, and hard hits. Now let’s quickly go through the install process.
The first step is to remove the servo from your vehicle and all the standard mounts. If you are working on a new build and haven’t installed the servo into a vehicle yet, then make sure your servo horn is correctly aligned to the servo after you are done installing the brace. Then align your servo using the kit’s plastic shims if they are needed. In this example I opted not to use any, but depending on your setup needs you might have to use them.
Next, install the JConcepts Servo Mount Brace by slipping it over the servo, and then loosely fasten it with factory mounting screws with washers into the four locations. Since these screws will be threading into aluminum you will want to add a dab of blue thread locker so they don’t work themselves out later. Then make sure the screws are snug to keep them in place.
Now, center the servo between the brace and install the included 3x6mm set screws on each side with a 1.5mm driver. Again, you will want to add a dab of thread locker to each set screw so they stay in place. Tighten those down until they make contact with the servo.
You don’t want to overtighten them since they could damage the servo’s case. Instead just tighten them enough to eliminate any side to side movement.
Once that is complete fully tighten the four mounting screws on the sides.
Align your servo horn correctly and install it onto the servo.
Then install the servo into the vehicle with the needed additional hardware.
Then fire up the car and check your EPA settings before hitting the track for some fast laps!
