Things are heating up outside this Summer as July rolls along. The JConcepts race team also continues to heat things up on the track as well which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report over at RC Madness in Enfield, CT. They recently hosted their 2022 BBQ Blast event on both their dirt and turf tracks. There were over 200 combined entries on both surfaces so let’s see how the team finished up starting with JC driver Eric Bresnahan. He competed in two different classes on the turf track and finished 3rd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and took the win in the Stadium Truck class! He used Swaggers and Pin Downs tires on his truck along with a Finnisher lid, and for his buggy he used Fuzz Bites on all four corners.
Also competing was team driver Matt Perault in the Mod 2wd Buggy and 1/8 Electric Buggy classes. On the dirt track he qualified directly into the A Main and finished in 6th place in e buggy! On the turf track he also started in the A Main and finished 5th overall in mod 2wd! His 2wd ride used Nessi and Swagger tires glued to Mono wheels along with a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and a High-Flow 30x30x10mm Aluminum Cooling Fan. His e buggy used Green and Blue compound Reflexes, Aqua compound Detoxes and they were all mounted to Bullet rims.
Also competing on the turf surface was JC driver John Cravotta. He would bump up into the A Main in 17.5 2wd Buggy and just narrowly miss taking the win as he finished in 2nd! He qualified directly into the A Main for 13.5 4wd Buggy and would lock up the final podium spot for the event! Both cars used a combination of Swaggers, Nessi and Fuzz Bite rubber.
Now we pivot over to Pennsylvania and stop in at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills. This past weekend they held their AM PM Revolution race which saw over 150 entries! Team driver Dylan Manchanda competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and bumped into the A Main after taking 1st in the B Main! In the A Main event he would run as high as 7th place before a cracked shock tower would drop him out of contention and he would settle for 12th place. He still had fun and put in a good run till that point while using Blue compound Detoxes on Bullet wheels and a F2I rear wing!
His brother Aydan Manchanda also raced at this event but in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. In e buggy he would finish 5th overall and in e truggy he would take the win! His buggy used Blue compound Detox tires and Bullet wheels while his winning truggy used a F2I wing, Blue compound Reflexes and Bullet wheels.
JC driver Matt Adams also competed at this race in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 4wd Buggy classes. In e buggy he would miss out bumping into the A Main, but in the wheeler class he would start 2nd on the grid and finish there after eight minutes! His e buggy utilized Aqua compound Stalkers on Bullet wheels while his 4wd car used Blue compound Sprinters on Mono wheels.
Sending it south to Alabama we stop in at the city of Tuscumbia where the Steve Raddatz Memorial Raceway is located at. This past weekend they held their 3rd Annual SHARC Attack event and competing there for JConcepts was team driver Randy Enger. He competed in the Mod 4wd and 1/8 Electric Buggy classes and took the double TQ and win in both! His 4wd car used a S2 lid and Blue compound Sprinters while his e buggy used a F2I wing and A2 compound Stalkers. Joining him on the Mod 4wd Buggy podium in 3rd place was his fellow JC driver Will Scott!
Speaking of Will, he also competed in two other classes at this event and made the podium in all of them!
- Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st place while running a Finnisher body, Blue compound Carvers up front and Green compound Goose Bumps in the rear
- Spec Slash = 2nd place
- Mod 4wd Buggy = 3rd place
Next, we make a diagonal up to Indian Creek RC located in Petersburg, IL. They recently held their Barn Buster trophy event and team driver Brayden Billington competed in three different classes and took the W in two of them!
- 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and 1st while rolling on A2 compound Triple Dees
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = 1st while rolling on A2 compound Stalkers
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 2nd place while rolling on A2 compound Stalkers
Moving up north we head to Full Throttle Raceway in Foley, MN. This past weekend they hosted Round #3 of the MNRC Series which saw nearly 140 entries! Team driver Josh Ford made his way to this event to compete in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy and Buggy classes. In buggy he just missed out on the podium as he finished 4th overall while racing on Blue compound Reflexes! In the truggy class he would TQ all rounds of qualifying and then go on to take the win!
His JC teammate Kyle Holmberg also competed at this recent round in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes. He would take the win in both classes along with a TQ in nitro buggy! Both bugs used S15 shells, Bullet wheels, Blue compound Blockers on the nitro buggy and A2 compound Reflexes on the e buggy. Joining him on the nitro buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Seth VanDalen!
JConcepts driver Joe Scaramell also competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class plus 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy. He would make the A mains for both classes and finish 10th in e buggy and 3rd in 40+ buggy! Earlier in the event he used Green compound Reflex tires but on Sunday for the finals he switched over to the Blue compound.
Sending it down to the “Show-Me State” we catch up with team driver Adam Kasch. This past weekend he attended the 2022 Off-Road Riot at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs to compete in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes.
After the dust had settled he would finish 12th in e buggy and 5th in e truggy! His buggy used our Blue compound Stalkers while his truggy used both Blue and Aqua compound Triple Dees.
Also competing at this event was his teammate Mason Herrick in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class. He would go on to lock up 3rd place while using Blue compound Reflexes glued to Bullet rims!
Jumping the state line we roll into the town of Yukon, OK where Taylor Park Raceway is located at. They recently held their 8th Annual Summer Showdown and JConcepts driver Kevin Mcnatt would take the TQ and win in the SC Mod class while running fast on Blue compound Sprinters mounted to 9-Shot wheels!
Heading out west let’s get our next update from team driver Tony Hinojosa. He recently attended Round #3 of the Border Wars R/C Racing Series at RAM Off-Road Park in Colorado Springs, CO, and he competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes.
He would finish 7th overall in e buggy and in e truggy he locked up the final podium by finishing 3rd overall! Both cars used Green compound Reflex tires, plus a F2 truck body and S15 shell.
Now we fly out to sunny California to get an update from team driver Chris Raymond. This past weekend he attended SDRC Raceway in San Diego for a ROAR warm-up race for the upcoming 1/10 Off-Road Electric nationals that will be held their next month. He would end up taking the wins in both the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Short Course classes while using sanded down Silver compound Ellipses!
Heading north we make our way up to DieHard RC in Snohomish, WA. Team driver Robert Sorjonen recently competed there for their WERC event and took home the TQ & 1st place in the 1/8 electric truggy class!
Also competing there was JC driver Cole Chura in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro buggy classes. Unfortunately, he had to leave this event before the mains were finished on Sunday, but his cars were running fast while until that point as he qualified 3rd in nitro buggy and 2nd in electric buggy!
Now let’s get some updates from our international team who recently competed at Round #2 of the 2022 Quebec RC Series hosted by Bego Racing RC Raceway in Napierville, QC, Canada. Starting with team driver Steve Seguin he reports that he took the TQ and W in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class while using Aqua compound Ellipses tires!
His JC teammate Daemon Holon competed in three different classes at this round and finished 2nd in all of them!
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 2nd place while using a S15 body and A2 compound Detox tires
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = 2nd place while using a S15 body and R2 compound Reflexes
- 1/8 Nitro Truggy = 2nd place while using a F2 truck body and R2 compound Reflexes
JConcepts driver Xavier Belanger also competed in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes too. He would finish 6th in nitro buggy while using Aqua compound Detox tires, and in e buggy he would finish 3rd overall while running strong on Aqua compound Ellipses! He also used S15 bodies on both vehicles, and joining him on the e buggy podium were teammates Damian Lamy (1st), Daemon Holon (2nd) and Brian Ross (5th)!
Next, we catch up with Denmark team driver Jesper Rasmussen who recently competed at Round #2 of the TiMo Off-Road Series. This event featured a unique racing format where drivers ran one qualifying round, and then they competed in five main events. Each driver could drop their worst main finish and after all five mains were ran he was able to capture the double TQ and win in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy! Both bugs used S2 bodies in the lightweight option along with Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ and 7″ Rear Wings.
Our final report this week comes to use courtesy of Australian team driver Ben Panic. He recently attended the Australian 1/8 Nitro Buggy Nationals held at Valley Raceway on the Sunshine coast in Queensland. Due to the rainy weather this scheduled four day event was compressed to two days of racing. He would make it to the 45 minute finals and would finish 9th overall while running smooth on Black compound Reflex tires, Bullet rims and a S15 shell!
