In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Washington team driver, Shane Preugschat!
1. How did you first hear about racing RC cars? And what classes did you compete in?
I first heard about “real” RC cars as a kid when saw a Radio Controlled Car Action Magazine in the store. I immediately went out and bought a Kyosho Raider 2wd buggy and Panda stadium truck to race around with my buddies on a track we built in my back yard. I didn’t start really racing until 2005 or so and jumped right in with 1/8 nitro buggy and gas truck!!
2. Name a RC class that you would like to see increase in popularity and why?
I would like to see 1/10 gas truck make a come back. I love that class!! It was as a fairly cheap class to run if you wanted to run nitro. It was by far the most fun class I’ve ever raced.
3. What is one tip you have for new drivers getting into RC racing that you would like to share?
Don’t be afraid to ask the local fast guys questions and for help. Most of us are very willing to help out anyway we can. RC is an expensive hobby for most of us and I hate to see people not having fun and being frustrated.
4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?
Always have to have my Green and Blue compound Reflexes. They work just about everywhere.
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
I’m a scratch golfer!!
