Race Team Update – October 2022 Week #3

As the temps continue to drop outside, the wins also keep falling for the JConcepts race team! Take a look at where we were winning at in this new installment of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at Leaned Out Raceway in Disputanta, VA. This past weekend they held their Great Goblin race and team driver Ken Rand Jr. reports that he finished 3rd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus took the TQ and win in 1/8 Nitro Buggy! He used Green compound Detox tires along with a S15 body. Joining him on the podium were fellow JC drivers Rusty Mihelich (2nd) and Maddy Long (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep! Rusty also qualified 2nd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy but ran into some mechanical gremlins in the main and finished in 6th place. He used Green compound Ellipses mounted to Bullet wheels.

Maddy also competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class and after the dust had settled she took home the W! She also used Green compound Ellipses mounted to Bullet rims.

JConcepts driver Stacey Mihelich competed in the Novice class and grabbed the TQ and win while also using the winning combo of Green compound Ellipses on Bullet wheels! Team driver Mylee Mihelich (not pictured) qualified 4th for the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy A Main but also ran into an issue and had to drop out to finish in 7th place. In the nitro class she would qualify 4th and finish there too while rocking Green compound Ellipses glued to Bullet rims!

Sending it south into Florida we meet up with team driver Jader Lopez who recently competed at the ROAR Region 4 event held at the Coral Springs RC Track in the city of Coral Springs.

He competed in the 17.5 2wd and Mod 4wd Buggy classes and took home the win in both while running on Sprinters on all four corners!

Launching over to the Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club (RC3) in Huntsville, AL team driver Jerrid Wright reports that after the points were calculated for their off-road series he was able to take home 7th in 1/8 Electric Buggy, 4th in 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 3rd in 2wd Short Course Truck!

Shooting over to Texas let’s get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks in the large state. Starting with team driver Mikey Chiudioni he and his son Mikey Jr. attended the final round of the Raceparty RC Track points series in EL Paso. Mikey senior set the TQ and took the tone to tone win in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Mikey Jr. also set the TQ and took the win at the finals in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and this also cemented him as the overall series class champion! Both drivers used Silencer shells and Mikey senior used Blue compound Reflex tires while his son opted for Blue compound Kosmos treads.

Team driver Kevin Lenderman recently competed at the Money Pit RC Raceway in Merkel for their Spooktacular trophy event. In the SC Mod class he would qualify and finish in 2nd while using Green compound Ellipses mounted on 9-Shot wheels! In the Wingless Sprint car class he would also qualify in 2nd, but this time he would go on to win the main event!

Moving north we cross into Arkansas to see how the team finished up at the recent Walking Dead race held at GS Hobby in Barling. Starting with team driver Braxten Culley he reports that he set the TQ and took both wins in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He used F2 bodies, Fuzz Bites in the front with Nessi tires in the rear, and all on Mono wheels.

Also competing at this event was his tire teammate Matthew Pyle. He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy, 13.5 4wd Buggy and Short Course Truck classes, and after the event was over he would finish 3rd in all of them! For the event he used Fuzz Bite and Nessi tires along with F2 bodies on his buggies while his SCT used Swaggers and Pin Downs rubber, a Hi-Flow lid and 9-Shot wheels.

Continuing north we stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO for our next update. Team driver Nick Gibson recently competed at Round 1 of their Saturday Indoor Off-Road Points Series, and he finished 1st in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy!

Leaping over to the “Land Of Lincoln” we meet up with team driver Brayden Billington. This past weekend he went to Indian Creek RC in the town of Petersburg to compete in their Scarecrow Scramble trophy event. He competed in three different classes with great results!

  • 1/8 Eletric Truggy = TQ and 1st
  • 1/8 Nitro Truggy = 2nd
  • 1/8 Electric Buggy = 5th

During the day he used Blue compound Reflex tires on all of his cars before switching over to the Green compound at night.

Bouncing over to the Bill’s RC Hobby Shop in Marion, IN let’s get a few updates from the team who recently competed at their Icebreaker event. Starting with team driver Justin Green he let us know that he ran in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and set the TQ in both! In the mains he would have some bad luck in 17.5 to finish 5th overall, but luck was on his side in the 13.5 main as he took the win! Both bugs used Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires stuffed with RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd | 4wd Front Inserts, F2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.

Also competing at this race was JC driver Adam Rayls. He would take the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires glued to Mono wheels, a lightweight F2 lid and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!

Moving on up to Minnesota we stop in at St. Louis Park where MMR³ is located. They recently held a round of their Carpet Winter Series and team driver Christopher Malooly reported that he finished 3rd in the 17.5 2wd and Mod 4wd Buggy classes!

Next, we head down to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held Round 2 of their Carpet Off-Road Syndicate and team driver, and race director, Alex Sturgeon finished 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the win in the Mini-B Mod 2wd Buggy class! He used Twin Pin and Swaggers rubber along with a S2 body on his big buggy, and Fuzz Bites on all four corner on his mini me. His son Emerson took the win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class while using Fuzz Bites in the front and rear!

Also competing at this recent round was team driver Mike Sanders in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. Mike would finish 4th in 17.5 and lock up 2nd place in 13.5! He used F2 bodies and Fuzz Bite tires mounted to Mono wheels.

Heading out west let’s see how the team finished at the 1st Annual Oval Fest held at LSR Speedway in Sacramento, CA. Starting with JConcepts driver Gary Slater he competed in the 13.5 Sprint class and took the win while using Silver compound Ellipses, RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd | 4wd Inserts, 10th Scale Buggy Tire Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors and all on Mono wheels!

Team driver Rob Moots reported that he finished 6th in Mod Sprint and 3rd in 13.5 Sprint while using Silver compound Ellipses stuffed with RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd | 4wd Inserts and 10th Scale Buggy Tire Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors!

Team driver Kyle Layton also competed in the Mod Sprint class and took the TQ and W while racing on the same tire setup as his teammates!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of international team driver Clément Boda. Last weekend he competed at the 1/8 Nitro French Cup and after the 45 minute main had concluded he would walk away with the TQ and win! He along with his dad and teammate Sebastien Mure would put in a dominate performance while utilizing a S15 body, Bullet wheels, Black compound Reflex tires and Fin 1/8 Serrated Light-Weight Wheel Nuts.
