Race Team Update – May 2024 Week #3

From coast to coast the JConcepts race team continues to win the most! Read about our winning ways in this week’s edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA. Last weekend they held their Northeast Showdown trophy event that brought out 266 entries! We had many drivers at this race so let’s see how they finished starting with team driver Ethan Mackanick. He competed in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy and Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes, and he would wrap up the event with a 4th place finish in truggy and the TQ and W in buggy! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium were fellow JC drivers Dylan Raposo (2nd), Paul Ciccarello (4th) and Aydan Manchanda (5th)! Speaking of Aydan, he also competed in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. He suffered two DNFs during qualifying so he had to bump his way into the A Main after starting in the lower D Main, and then put in a good run to finish 5th in the finals!

Even his mom Bree got some wheel time at this event as she took 1st place in the MotoMom division while piloting Aydan’s e truggy!

Team driver Joey Bourdon competed in three classes at this race. In the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he would fall out of contention in the finals with a DNF. His luck was better in his other two classes and he set the TQ in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class, then raced on to take the win plus picked up another victory in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class too! Joining him on the e buggy podium were fellow JConcepts drivers Paul Ciccarello (4th) and Garrett Hawbaker (5th)!

Garrett also reports that he finished 2nd overall in 1/8 Electric Truggy class too!

JC driver Adam Curry let us know that he finished 2nd overall in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and he also picked up the win in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Team driver Tom Petrella also competed in these same two 40+ classes and would finish 11th in nitro buggy after a DNF and picked up 5th place in e buggy!

Bouncing over to to the “Hoosier state” we now get this next update from team driver Ben Ellis. He recently competed at the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany for their Derby Hangover trophy race that brought out 121 entries!

He raced in the Expert 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes, and he would finish 2nd in 17.5 and picked up the win in the Mod class!

Heading down to the “Show me state” we catch up with team driver Brad Dean. This past weekend he went to the OutLaw Lane RC Race Track in Crocker to compete in their 9th Annual Ozark RC Shootout. When the dust had settled he would finish 3rd in Outlaw Sprint, 2nd in Open Late Model, and he also picked up the TQ and win in Midwest Modified!

Heading up north we get our next update from team driver Joe Scaramell. This past weekend he competed in Round 1 of the MNRC Minnesota Off-Road Racing Series that was held at Southern Minnesota RC Raceway in Blooming Prairie, MN.

When the round was over he would finish 6th in the B Main for 1/8 Nito Buggy, plus two 4th place finishes in 40+ 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy!

Our next stop is in Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. Last weekend was Round 2 of their Summer Series which saw 132 entries! Let’s see how the JConcepts team finished up starting with team driver Brandon Kearney. He reports that he finished 8th overall in Mod 2wd Buggy and 7th place in Mod 4wd Buggy!

JC driver Andrew Thomas took the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! Joining him on the 17.5 2wd podium were his tire teammates Daniel Bender (2nd) and Dalton Conradt (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep! Dalton also finished in 2nd place in 13.5 4wd Buggy as well!

JConcepts driver Bradley Peterson let us know that he finished 6th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 5th place in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Team driver Tom Rinderknecht doubled up at this round with the TQ and win in Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy! Joining him on the Mod 2wd podium to complete another JConcepts podium sweep were team drivers Nick Gibson (2nd) and Mason Herrick (3rd)! Mason also locked up the number 3 position in Mod wheeler too!

JC driver David Peavler reported that he finished 5th 17.5 2wd Buggy and 3rd overall in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy!

JConcepts pilot Ethan Delair raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and he would finish 8th in mod wheeler and 7th in Mod 2wd!

Now, let’s shoot down to Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto, TX for our next update. This past weekend they hosted the “The Dirt” Lonestar Challenge that brought out 375 entries!

Team driver Brian Henn competed in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and after all the AA Mains were ran he would finish 9th in e buggy and 3rd place in e truggy!

Also competing at this race was fellow team driver Tyler Keel who finished 10th overall in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy!

JC driver Calvin Bruce raced in two classes at this event, and he finished 4th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd place in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy!

His son Braden would finish 2nd overall in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus he picked up the TQ and win in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

JC driver Brian Germany signed up the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and he would wrap up the race with a 4th place finish!

His tire teammate Cameron Breaux competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro buggy classes, and he would finish the race with 15th place finish in nitro and 8th overall in e buggy!

Making our way west we now stop in at Fast Eddie’s Hobbies in Yuma, AZ. Last Thursday they kicked off their night racing series, and team driver James Rodriguez took the TQ and win in the VTA class!

Moving even more to the west we make our way to sunny California. There were a few RC events taking place in the state so our first report is from team driver Chris Raceles. This past Saturday he attended Round 5 of the Supercross Series held at SDRC in San Diego. After the racing had completed for the day he would set the TQ in the 40+ 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes plus 13.5 Stadium Truck! He would then run the mains and finish 2nd in 40+ wheeler and grabbed wins in the other classes!

The Monster Jam Finals took place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood over the weekend, and outside this venue the RC Monster Jam World Finals were held too. Competing there for the team was JC driver Jessica Dahl, and she finished 2nd overall in the Freestyle class!

Team driver Michael Letcher competed in the Racing, High Jump, and Freestyle classes with his ThunderRoarUs and Earthshaker replica trucks!

JConcepts driver Jeremy Bunting was also at this event, and even though he didn’t make any podiums he still had a great time and put on a show for the crowds!

JC driver Ethan Saunders was also at this event and finished in the top 8 in the racing division plus 3rd overall in Freestyle!

His tire teammate Josh Rhodes doubled up at this event with a win in the High Jump and Freestyle classes!

Next, we head over to HRCR (Hayden Radio Control Raceway) in Hayden, ID to see how the team finished up at Round 1 of the WERC series. This race was also a warm-up event for the upcoming ROAR Fuel 1:8 Nationals taking place here later in the summer, and this race brought out 230 entries! Team driver Evan Roeth competed in three classes at this event, but unfortunately due to rain they had to cut the program short. The final results were based off of qualifying, so he would finish 4th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy, and took two TQs and Ws in the Spec Tire 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1/8 Nitro Truggy classes!

JC driver Brenden Bartlett also attended this race and qualified in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes, but wasn’t able to get his mains in too, but still had a fun time!

JConcepts driver Shane Preugschat competed in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, and luckily they ran it Saturday night before the rain came and he finished 2nd overall!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Ben Panic. This past weekend the ACT titles were held in Canberra, Australia and he finished 6th overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy A main!

His son Zac also made the podium in the Juniors division with a 3rd place finish!
