This past weekend the 2024 European Championships for 1/8th Nitro Buggy were hosted at the Ongaroring in Sicile, Italy.
Jason Ruona would be in attendance for trackside support at the event and JConcepts had some top level drivers in the form of Juan Carlos Canas, Bryan and Oscar Baldo, and a host of others.
Free and Seeding practice started off well with Juan Carlos consistently in the top 5. The track started a little loamy so tread patterns like the Falcon and Relapse were used. Quickly towards the end of practice the team switched over to tires like the soon to be released Dirt Web 2 and trusty Ellipse.
The first qualifying day would see a few different names at the front of the pack. Davide Ongaro would take the first TQ run, Canas would take the 2nd round, and Burak Kilic would round out the day with a TQ of his own. Moving into the 2nd day all the marbles were to play for. Juan Carlos would completely shut out the opposition taking the win in both round 4 and round 5 which would also give him the overall TQ. These rounds were ran on the Dirt Web 2 and Ellipse.
Unlike in America, the TQ does not go directly to the main final and does still have to run the Semi-Final. Canas breezed through the Semi to lock himself into top honors for the main event. Congratulations to Oscar Baldo as well on making the main final utilizing JConcepts tires and Accessories!
The main event would prove to be a grueling 45 minutes, Juan Carlos Canas would lead every lap to take the win as well as the hot lap for the race. He ran the main event on Ellipse and finished ahead of the hard charging duo of Bruno Coelho and David Ronnefalk.
We would like to congratulate and thank the Canas family for their efforts, this was a big momentum weekend moving into the upcoming worlds. Congratulations to Oscar Baldo on his top 10 finish! Bryan Baldo, Jake Dell, and others also had fantastic runs all with JConcepts.
