Race Team Update – August 2024 Week #1

The first weekend of racing is in the books for the JConcepts race team and they show no signs of slowing down. Read about our continued success on the track in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report at Chico, CA where AMain Hobbies is located. They recently held their Kevin Jelich Oval Memorial dirt oval race, and team driver Kyle Layton would take the win in the Outlaw Sprint class!

He was joined on the podium by fellow team driver Todd Pearson in 3rd place!

Now we fly over the Rocky Mountains and touch down at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora, CO. This past weekend they held their Turf Wars trophy event, and team driver Rob Sturghill competed in three classes. When the event was over he would finish with a DNS in 17.5 2wd Buggy, a 3rd place finish in Mod 2wd Buggy, plus the TQ and W in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class! Joining him on the truck podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Sam Ford!

Next, let’s continue over to Oklahoma to see how the team finished up at a few events taking place in the state. Our first stop is at the city of Yukon where Taylor Park is located. They recently held the 7th night of their points series so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Jen Lathrop. She competed in both the Late Model and Outlaw Sprint classes and she would set the TQ and take the win in both! Joining her on the sprint podium was fellow JC driver Tyler Keel in 2nd place!

Jen also competed in the Midget class, but taking the win in this class was her tire teammate Randy Lathrop! Joining them on the midget podium in 3rd place was JC pilot David Alford to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

Team driver Billy Caldwell also raced in two classes at this event. He would finish 6th overall in Outlaw Sprint along with a 4th place finish in the Midget class!

Staying in the state team driver Kevin Mcnatt recently traveled to MOJO Hobby in Oklahoma City to race at the WFO Dirt Oval Series.

He would leave with the TQ and win in the SC Mod class!

Flying south to Huntsville, AL we get our next update from team driver Randy Enger. He recently traveled to RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club) to compete in their 15th annual Rocket City Challenge. He competed in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, and he would race on to finish 3rd in e buggy plus picked up the win in the nitro class!

Crossing the stateline we now visit Loganville RC Complex in Loganville, GA. This past weekend the track owners held a special World’s Benefit Race to raise some money to help out the local drivers that are making their way to Spain to compete in the IFMAR 1:8 Nitro Buggy Worlds next month. Attending this race was team driver Shay Brand who signed up for the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, and after the 30 minute main was ran he would come away with the victory! Joining him on the nitro podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Mark Moon!

Next, let’s head up the coastline and stop in at Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC.

This past weekend they held their 2nd Annual ProTek Champions Challenge, and team driver Josh Parrish would double down at this event with two TQs and wins in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes!

Also competing at this race for the team was JConcepts driver Ryan Caudle. He competed in the three classes and would finish with two 3rd place finishes in 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy along with a TQ and win in the Pro2 Short Course Truck class!

Heading up the coast even more we find ourselves rolling into RC Madness in Enfield, CT. This past weekend they held their USGP trophy race and team driver Eric Bresnahan was in attendance. He would wrap up the event with a 4th place finish in 17.5 2wd Buggy and the TQ and W in the Stadium Truck class!

Heading back west we now stop in at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA. This past weekend they held their Dream Race dirt oval trophy event, and team driver Matt Adams signed up for two classes. He had some bad luck in the Midget class as he missed the transfer to the A Main with a DNF, but his luck was better in the 360 Sprint class as he finished 3rd overall!

Heading over to Ohio we stop in at the city of Toledo where TARCAR is located. This past weekend they hosted the 3rd round of the Glass City Series. Team driver Chuck Berg competed in both the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and would wrap up the race with two wins which included the TQ in truggy! Setting the TQ and finishing 2nd in the nitro buggy class was his JConcepts teammate Mike Legue! Mike would also finish 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy too!

Bouncing over to Indiana we get our next update from team driver Charles Hicks. This past weekend he raced at the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany for their 1/8 Apocalypse trophy race.

He would start 2nd on the grid for the 1/8 Electric Buggy A Main and then race on to take the win!

Staying in Indiana let’s get another update but this time from team driver Ben Ellis. He recently traveled to Hudson where Finish Line Raceway is situated at.

They were host to Round 3 of the HORCRS (Hoosier Off-Road RC Racing Series), and he would set the TQ and then take the victory in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

Our next stop is at Crawler Canyon RC Park in Rockdale, IL. They recently held their Team Of Three event where a team of drivers would pass through 150 gates in a rock crawling competition. After the competition was over team driver Lukas Klein and his teammates would come out on top!

Moving over to Missouri we stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO. Over the weekend they held Round 5 of their Saturday Slideways Series, and team driver Jeremy Cathlina competed in the Late Model, Mod Sprint and Midwest Mod classes. After the dust had settled he would take home three TQs and wins!

Heading up I-35 we make our way to Leighton, IA. This past weekend they held their Leighton Nationals, and team driver David Fast reports that he finished 9th in the 410 Sprint class!

Continuing north on I-35 we now cross over into Minnesota and stop in at Blooming Prairie where Southern Minnesota RC Raceway is located. Team driver Joe Zaier Jr. recently traveled there to compete in their Iron Man trophy race and he would set the TQ and finish 2nd in 1/5 Gas Truck class!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Canadian driver Peter Tozser. He and his daughter Britt recently raced at the Nitro Stampede event held at RC Gears in Calgary, Alberta. He would set the TQ and then take the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus he picked up another win in nitro buggy too! Britt would also set the TQ in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class then take 3rd overall plus picked up another 3rd place finish in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!
