Race Team Update – August 2024 Week #3

The third week of August was another winning one for the JConcepts race team! We took several wins and stacked the podium at different race events around the globe which you can read for yourself in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report in New Jersey. The JConcepts team was busy putting in work at a few events in the state, so let’s first check in with team driver Jason Csontos. This past weekend he went to RRLRC Summer Slam event held at Insanity Race Track in the town of Boonton.

He signed up for the 2wd Buggy and Stadium truck classes with his retro rides, and he wasn’t able to finish truck due to some electronic gremlins, but in buggy he finished 3rd overall!

Our next stop in the state is at Cruizin with RC’s in Waldwick where team driver Andrew Sreckovich recently competed. He entered their triple main day event this past Sunday and would lock up the final podium spot in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Next, let’s head to Leaned Out Raceway in Disputanta, VA. This past weekend they held their Back To School trophy race and team driver Maddy Long would set the TQ and then take home the win in both the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes!

Moving down the coastline we make our way to Sumter RC Raceway in Sumter, SC to see how the team finished up at their recent Road to the Worlds 2.0 event. This was a special charity race to help raise money for team driver David Olsen as he prepares to compete at the IFMAR 1:8 Fuel Off-Road Worlds next month in Redovan, Spain. There was just over 100 entries which meant the event raised over $3,300 for his upcoming trip!

As far as the racing went JConcepts driver Robert Meyer Jr. would set the TQ then take the win in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

JC driver Derrick Harris was also this event, and he ran in both the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. In e buggy he would finish 8th overall and in e truggy he locked up 5th place!

Making our way across the state line we now head to Augusta R/C Supercross in Augusta, GA. This past weekend they hosted Round 1 of the GORCS (Georgia Off-Road Championship Series), and team driver Ennis Graves competed in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. He would start 5th overall in the main, but had to retire early with a DNF. Still, he had a great time and was running fast till that point at this race!

Continuing to the west we now stop in at Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway in Magee, MS. This past weekend they held their Magnolia X trophy race and team driver William Ables signed up for both the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He would set the fastest times in the opening round of qualifying in both classes before some rain rolled in and canceled the rest of the event. So awards were handed out based on the qualifying results which resulted in him taking two wins!

Now we make our way to Taylor Park RC Raceway in Yukon, OK. They just held their 10th Annual Summer Showdown trophy event, and team driver Jordan Hefler reported that he competed in the SC Mod, Midwest Mod and Late Model classes. When the event was over he would finish 9th in Midwest Mod, 8th in Late Model plus the TQ and win in SC Mod!

Next, let’s head over to Missouri to get some reports from the team competing at different events throughout the state. Starting at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, this past Saturday they held their annual King of Dirt Oval Championship which brought out 181 entries!

Team driver David Fast reported that he competed in both the Open and 13.5 Sprint classes. He just missed out on the transfer spot to the A Main in the open class, but he had better luck in 13.5 as he set the TQ and took the W!

JConcepts driver Tyler Keel also competed at this dirt oval event in the Open Sprint class. When the night was over he would set the TQ and race on to finish 2nd overall!

JC driver Nick Gibson also signed up for the Open Sprint class where he finished 11th overall!

Team driver Brian Stanton competed in three classes at this event. In Open Sprint he would miss the transfer to the A Main, but he made the A Main in both the Midget and Late Model classes finishing 5th in Late Model and 4th in Midget!

His tire teammate Jeremy Cathlina also competed in multiple classes. In the Open Sprint class he would finish in one of the lower mains, but he had better results in the Late Model and Midwest Mod classes with a 5th (Midwest Mod) and 3rd (Late Model) place finish!

Our next stop in Missouri is at St Louis Dirt Burners in St Louis. They held their Midwest Nitro Challenge race over the weekend that brought out 273 entries! Team driver Charles Day raced in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and he would finish 5th in e buggy and 2nd place in e truggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium to complete the JConcepts sweep were fellow team drivers Mason Fuller (TQ & 1st), Cole Tollard (2nd), Ashton Abdul (3rd) and Braden Bruce (4th)!

Also competing at this event was JConcepts driver Mack Vanderbeek. He signed up for the 40+ Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, and would come home with a 3rd place finish in nitro buggy and the W in e buggy! Joining him on the nitro podium in 2nd place was his tire teammate Troy Weber!

Now we rock out and head to Crawler Canyon RC Park in Rockdale, IL for our next update. Team driver Lukas Klein competed in their eliminator competition over the weekend and would take 1st place in two of the three rounds!

Crossing the Mississippi River into Iowa we make our way to Webster City where Traction City RC is located.

They recently held another round of their Summer point series, and team driver David Peavler would triple up at this round with 3 TQs and Wins in 13.5 Stadium Truck plus Mod and 40+ 2wd Buggy!

Coasting up I-35 let’s now visit LSRCC (Lake Superior R/C Car Club) Raceway who hosted Round 4 of the MNRC Minnesota Off-Road Racing Series in Proctor, MN.

Team driver Joe Scaramell competed in both the 40+ Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and after the dust had settled he would finish the nitro buggy A Main with a DNF while also finishing 5th overall in the e buggy class after the AA Mains were ran!

Also competing at this event for the team was fellow JC pilot Josh Ford. He would finish the round with a 3rd place finish in 1/8 Nitro Truggy, plus a 2nd place finish in 1/8 Nitro Buggy! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium in 1st place was fellow JConcepts driver Seth VanDalen!

Now let’s fly out west and land in sunny Bakersfield, CA where Rain-Man’s Hobby and Raceway is located at. This past weekend they held their 2024 West Coast Oval Nationals so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Ethan Kovalsky. He competed in the Outlaw Sprint and Midget classes, and he would finish in 3rd place in the Outlaw class while also taking the TQ and win in the Midget!

Also competing at this race was team driver James Rodriguez, and he would just miss out on the transfer to the A in the Outlaw Sprint class!

Working our way up north to Washington we now catch up with team driver Evan Roeth. This past weekend he visited Diehard RC in Snohomish to compete in Round 3 of the WERC Series. He registered for three classes and he would race on to finish 7th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy, 2nd in Spec Tire 1/8 Electric Buggy as well as the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class! He also was lucky enough to win the cash payout drawing this weekend which netted him $250!

Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with JC driver Robert Sorjonen. This past weekend he traveled to Blackfoot RC in Calgary, Alberta in Canada for their 2024 Western 1/5 Western Canadian Nationals. He would enter the 4WD Gas Truck class and drive away with the TQ and win!

Now we head down to Australia to get a few updates from the team competing at different events. Starting with team driver Ray Munday he reports that over the weekend he and his son Lachlan competed in Round 3 of the Victorian drivers series in the regional town of Wodonga which is three hours north of Melbourne. This event brought out over 100 entries, and Ray would finish 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and 3rd place in Mod Stadium Truck, while Lachlan took the win in Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy along with Mod Stadium Truck!

Setting the TQ and finishing 2nd in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy was their tire teammate Jordan Isergin!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Ben Panic. This past weekend he and his son Zac competed in the NSW State titles that were held last weekend at Batemans Bay Radio Control Club Inc in New South Wales.

When the race had completed Ben would finish 4th in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Zac would set the TQ and and then take the win in the Junior’s class!
