2024 JConcepts Indoor National Series Finals Report

The 2024 JConcepts INS Series is complete after the finals this past weekend at Hoosier RC Hobbyplex. The finals boasted 315 entries and was a great way to finish out a season with some of the best overall series participation in INS history.

Thursday was open practice with racers coming to grips with the unique grip level and size of the Hoosier facility. Friday continued with controlled practice before moving into the first round of qualifying. Saturday was the final 2 rounds of qualifying with the main events Sunday.

Drivers used the full array of Smoothie 2.0 and JConcepts Insert Options. Davey Batta opted for Black RM2 Front Inserts with standard sidewall tires. Tom Rinderknecht stuck with Dirt Tech inserts but flipped between standard front Smoothie 2.0s and Thick Sidewall Smoothie 2.0s as the grip changed throughout the days. He opted for the standard tire on main day as he felt like the grip level came down a bit from the beginning of qualifying.

The JConcepts team had fantastic results in qualifying taking the following positions.

2wd Modified: 1st Tom Rinderknecht, 2nd Davey Batta, 3rd Chase Lemieux
4wd Modified: 1st Davey Batta, 2nd Chase Lemieux, 3rd Tom Rinderknecht

Moving into the main events, a lot was on the line as overall championships in most classes were still undecided. Beyond that some racers who weren’t in the points were hunting to play spoiler on Sunday.

2wd Modified: Tom Rinderknecht would make a mistake early in A1 dropping him out of contention. Chase Lemieux would pick up the lead and take it to the end. Broc Champlin climbed to 2nd with Aydin Horne in 3rd. Tome would recover in A2 and A3 to take the overall win. Chase Lemieux would finish 2nd overall with a 1st and a 2nd and with wild scores after that, Broc Champlin would end up 3rd with a 2nd and a 5th.

1st Tom Rinderknecht (JC), 2nd Chase Lemieux (JC), 3rd Broc Champlin (JC)

4wd Modified: Davey Batta had a little more straight forward path to the win taking A1 and A2 and getting to watch A3 from the sidelines. Tom Rinderknecht would finish 2nd in A1 and A2 which would be enough for 2nd overall after a topsy turvy A3 result. Broc Champlin would end up 3rd with two 3rd place finishes.
