Race Team Update – November 2024 Weeks #4 & #5

Even the Thanksgiving holiday couldn’t stop the JConcepts race team from gobbling up the competition on the track the past two weekends. Read about our continued dominance in this special double-stuffed Race Team Update!

We start this report by heading back to the weekend right before the Thanksgiving holiday and visiting Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken, WI. Team driver Ryan Derenne was competing there for the 7th round of their Fall Points Series.

At the end of the round he would finish 5th overall in both the 40+ 2wd Buggy and Mod Stadium Truck classes!

Now we head south to Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City, IA. That prior weekend they held their 2024 Turkey Shootout that was in memory of local racer Dave Lorius, and this special event brought out 132 entries! Let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Jake Wiggs.

He competed in four classes at this race and put in some great results!

  • Mod 2wd Buggy – TQ & 1st place
  • 13.5 4wd Buggy – TQ & 1st place
  • 13.5 Stadium Truck – TQ & 2nd place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy – TQ & 2nd place

Also competing in the same four classes for the team was JC driver Jacob Sweisberger as he and Jake battled it out for the top podium spot all of their A Mains!

  • 13.5 Stadium Truck – 1st place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy – 1st place
  • Mod 2wd Buggy – 2nd place
  • 13.5 4wd Buggy – 2nd place

JConcepts driver David Peavler was also throwing down laps at this event. He would finish 3rd in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class, plus he took the TQ and win in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! Joining him on the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy podium in 3rd place was his tire teammate Ken Peterson!

Sending it further south we stop in at VPRC Raceway in Alexander, AR. Two weekends ago they held their 1st Annual Memorial Race that brought out 113 entries! Team driver Drew Spurgeon not only raced in this event in the Pro Sprint and Late Model classes, but he also performed the race director duties too! Luckily his cars were dialed in from the get go since he was busy running the races and he would go on to TQ and win in both classes!

Shooting down to Texas we stop in Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter for this quick update from team driver Brian Henn. He signed up to race in their Toys for Tots event that saw 141 entries! He competed in two classes and would finish 5th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

After the holiday break the team went right back to work out on the track. Starting in Florida, we head to Mills Pond RC Speedway in Ft. Lauderdale for our first update. This track was host to Round 6 of the 1/8 Florida RC Championships that saw 175 entries! Team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. reported that he took two wins in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Nitro Truggy classes which included a TQ in e buggy! On the e buggy podium he was flanked by fellow team drivers Trent Walker (2nd) and Jader Lopez (3rd)!

JConcepts driver Tony Rivas also competed in two different classes for this round. He would finish 4th in the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus a 2nd place finish in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy! Joining him on the 40+ podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Luis Perez!

Heading north we cross into Georgia and stop in at Sweetwater Raceway in Powder Springs for our next report.

Last weekend team driver Jason Westfall attended their Turkey Race where he took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes!

Heading up the coastline we stop in at Thunder Alley Raceway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they held their Turkey Race and team driver Maddy Long finished 2nd in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus she picked up the W in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy! Joining her on the nitro buggy podium in 2nd place was JConcepts driver Ryan Rand!

Next, we head to the upper Northeast and stop in at Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME. Over the holiday weekend they held their Ho Ho Ho trophy race, and team driver Matthew Sousa would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy, plus he netted the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! Joining him on the 17.5 podium was fellow JC driver John Cravotta in 2nd place!

Kicking it over to Kentucky we stop in the city of Middlesboro where RC Arena is located. Over the holiday weekend they held their Turkey Shootout which saw 125 entries! Racing for the team was Andrew and Tom Bishop. When the dust had settled Tom would finish 2nd in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, and Andrew would walk away with the TQ and W in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Bouncing over to Indiana we now stop in at Bill’s RC Raceway in the town of Marion. Over the Thanksgiving weekend team driver Charles Hicks went there to compete in their Gobbler trophy event where he finished in 1st place in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Joining him on the podium were fellow JC pilots Adam Rayls (TQ and 2nd) and Noah Ward (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

Moving north to Michigan we visit Jonesville where Sandpit RC is located. Over the holiday weekend they held their Turkey trophy race and team driver Mike Legue took the double TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

Leaping over Lake Michigan we splash down at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken, WI once again. This past weekend team driver Ryan Derenne was back at it for their Great Pie trophy event, and he would finish 8th overall in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class and 6th place in Mod Stadium Truck!

Crossing the stateline we move into Minnesota and stop in at the city of Woodbury where Dollar Hobbyz RC Raceway is located at.

This past Saturday was Round 3 of their points series and team driver Brayden Nelson finished 2nd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 1st place in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Also competing at this event was team driver Thor Ott who finished 1st in 17.5 2wd Buggy!

Heading back down to Iowa this time we visit Island Speedway in Muscatine for this quick update from team driver Joe Zaier Jr. This past weekend he attended their Turkey dirt oval trophy event and he finished 2nd overall in the 360 Sprint class!

Continuing south we now visit All Star Speedway in Fredricktown, MO. Over the holiday weekend they held their Black Friday trophy event that saw 117 entries! Team driver Brad Dean competed in three classes, and he would finish 2nd in Open Sprint and Late Model, plus he took 1st place in Midwest Mod!

Moving even further south we now stop in at GS Hobby in Barling, AR to see how the team performed at their recent Turkey Trot race. Starting with team driver Matthew Pyle he let us know that he finished 7th in 17.5 2wd Buggy after some bad luck in the A Main, but luck was on his side in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class as he took the TQ and win!

Also competing at this event for the team was JC driver Braxten Culley. He competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would come away with the double TQ and win!

Heading west we now stop in at CBRC in Ada, OK to see how the team performed at their 1st Annual Turkey Shootout.

Team driver Tyler Keel reported that he finished 3rd overall in the Open Sprint class! Taking the win in this class was his tire teammate Tyler Hooks!

Heading even further west we make out way to sunny California. There we find team driver Don Vinkemulder who spent last weekend competing in the 4th annual Turkey race at The Dirt at Perris which saw 252 entries!

He signed up for two classes and he would finish 8th in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 4th place in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Lachlan Donnelly.

This past weekend he competed in a trophy event held at Hills Off Road RC in Sydney, NSW, Australia, and he would set the TQ and finish 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy, plus he picked up the win in Mod 4wd Buggy!
