Race Team Update – January 2025 Week #2

Two race weekends into 2025 and the JConcepts race team shows no signs of slowing down. Read about our continued success in this week’s race team update!

We start this week’s report out east at Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. This track was host to the Vintage World Classic that saw 133 entries!

Team driver Jose Zayas competed in three classes at this event, and he would finish 2nd in 10.5 4wd Buggy along with a TQ in 17.5 Stadium Truck, plus wins in both the truck and 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Also running laps at this race was is tire teammate Dave McEwen. He competed in five different classes with great results!

  • 21.5 Heritage 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st place
  • 17.5 Stadium Truck = 2nd place
  • 1997 or newer 2wd Buggy = 2nd place
  • 10.5 4wd Buggy = 3rd place
  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = 8th place

Dave also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week for competing in the most classes at one event too!

Onto Ohio we stop in at En Hobbies & Raceway in the city of Columbus for our next update. Last week another round of their Thursday night points series took place, and team driver Curtis May set the TQ then raced on to take the W in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Moving over to the ‘Land of Lincoln’ we catch up with team driver Lukas Klein. Last weekend he went to Crawler Canyon RC Park in the city of Rockdale to compete in their Eliminator competition, and he reported that he finished in 1st place in all 3 rounds!

Moving over to Missouri we stop in at Fastlane Raceway in the city of Blue Springs. Last week was Round 4 of their Wednesday Night points series, and team driver Jack Foster finished 5th in 17.5 2wd Buggy along with a 3rd place finish in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Working our way up to New Franken, WI we get this quick update from team driver Ryan Derenne. Last weekend was the 12th and final round of Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway’s Fall points series, and he registered for two classes.

When the series points were tallied up he would finish 10th in 40+ 2wd Buggy, plus a 5th place finish in Mod Stadium Truck!

Now we make our way over to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE for our next update. Last weekend was Round 3 of their Winter series that saw 163 entries! Team driver Brandon Kearney was in attendance, and he would finish 4th in 1/8 Electric Truggy and 1st place in 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

His teammate Andrew Thomas competed in the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes. He would qualify 3rd for the e buggy A Main then race on to take the win, while in the nitro class he grabbed the TQ and win! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium were fellow JC drivers Drew Rubenking (2nd) and Mason Herrick (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep! Mason also reported that he set the TQ and finished in 2nd place in e buggy as well!

Next, we head to Tulsa, OK to see how the team finished up at the Mudboss Shootout that took place the weekend before the RC Chili Bowl kicked off. Team driver Jordan Hefler raced in four classes, and he finished 8th in the Sprint class, 5th place in Late Model, he transferred from the B Main to race on to take the win in Mudboss, and finally in the SC Mod class he would set the TQ and take the win!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Brian Stanton. He competed in the 13.5 Sprint class where he finished the event in 7th place!
