Race Team Update – January 2025 Week #4

The last weekend of racing in the month of January is another successful one for the JConcepts race team. Learn about our continued winning ways in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out west at SDRC in San Diego, CA. Team driver Don Vinkemulder recently competed there for some club racing, and he would end the night with a 3rd place finish in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Making an angle to Arizona we stop in the city of Phoenix where the Fear Farm RC Raceway is located.

Last weekend was the opening round of the MOD series, and team driver Chris Wheeler is off to a great start as he picked up the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Kicking it over to Kansas we now stop in at RC Pitstop & Raceway in Newton for this quick update from team driver Mason Herrick. Last weekend he did some club racing in the Mod 2wd Buggy class, and he was able to nab the TQ and W that night!

Next, we head up to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE for our next update. Last Saturday was another round in their Winter Dirt Oval series, and team driver David Fast reported that he finished 9th overall in the 410 Sprint class!

Heading east on I-80 we make our way to Island Speedway in Muscatine, IA. Last weekend was the 5th round of their off-road series so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Jamie Thompson. He competed in three classes at this round, and he would set the TQ in the Stadium Truck and Mod 2wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes! He then raced on to finish 2nd in Mod 2wd along with wins in the other two classes!

Taking the win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class was his teammate Brody Thompson! Brody would also pick up the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Making our way over to Michigan we stop in at Grand River RC in the town of Grandville. There we find team driver Chris Rothwell who competed in the opening round of their Off-Road points series last Sunday.

He would start 2nd on the grid for the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy A Main then take off to cross the line in 1st place!

Moving further east we now stop in at Trains and Lanes Hobbies in Easton, PA. JConcepts driver David Longaker was in attendance as he competed in three classes at their trophy event. At the end of the day he would finish with a TQ and DNF in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class, a 2nd place finish in Stadium Truck, plus the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Our next update is from JC driver Antonio Caputo. Recently he went to RC Madness in Enfield, CT to compete in their January Jam trophy race. He registered for two classes, and he would wrap up the event with a 2nd place finish in 13.5 4wd Buggy, plus the TQ and W in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Logan Toia. Recently he competed in the 2025 BOP Champs in Ngawaro, Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand.

He competed in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro buggy classes, and he would double dip with wins in both! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium was fellow JC driver Kasey Dawson in 2nd place!
