Race Team Update – September 2025 Week #2

Two weekends are in the books for the new month as the JConcepts race team continues to rack up wins! Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out west in sunny California. The team was competing at a few different RC events throughout the state so our first update comes to us from team driver Jeremy Bunting. He was in the city of Rescue where Rescue RC Raceway is located.

This facility hosted Round 4 of the Nor Cal RC Monster Trucks Points Series last weekend, and he reported that he finished 1st and 2nd in the freestyle competition with his “Bad Company” and “Carnage” entries in the 2.6” Monster Truck Class! His “Bad Company” rig also made it to the final round of the Challenger spec class too!

JConcepts president himself Jason Ruona made the trip out west to compete at this event, and when the racing was done he would crush the competition in the 2.6″ and Retro classes!

Our next tour stop in the state is at Delta RC Hobbies & Race Park in Antioch. Team driver Carl Vucinich was in town to compete in Round 4 of the MOD 2025 Championship Series and he would finish 3rd overall in 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Our last update in Cali is from JConcepts driver Chris Raceles. This past Saturday he competed at SDRC Raceway in San Diego for Round 4 of the Endless Summer Series, and he would finish 2nd in 40+ Mod 4wd Buggy along with the TQ and 1st place in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy!

Moving north we visit Diehard RC in Snohomish, WA for this quick update from JC driver Tyler Wilbur. Last weekend was the 2025 Summer Off-Road Dirt Championship and season finale, and when the event was over he would finish with the TQ and win in 1/8 Electric Buggy! When the season points were tallied up he would finish 2nd in this class, and also a 1st place finish in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Crossing the stateline we now visit Munday RC Raceway in Post Falls, ID. Last weekend was Round 5 of the NCT (Northwest Championship Tour), and team driver Evan Roeth would double down at this event with two TQs and wins in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes!

Also competing at this event was his teammate Shane Preugschat. He registered for the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes, and he finished a solid 2nd place in both of them!

Shooting over to San Antonio, TX we now stop in at Oatesified Off-Road RC Raceway. Last weekend was Round 3 of their Summer Heatstroke Series, and team driver Gabe Boudreau reported that he locked up 3rd place in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Moving north we now visit the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE. Last weekend was the final round of their Summer Series, and team driver David Peavler reported that he finished the final round with the win in both the 40+ Mod and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes, plus the TQ in the 40+ class! When the season points were tallied up he would finish 2nd in the 40+ class with his fellow JC driver, and Plex race director, Alex Sturgeon taking he overall points title! Alex also took home the season title in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class too!

Heading east down I-80 we now stop in at Leighton Speedway in Leighton, IA. Last Saturday was their September Showdown trophy event, and team driver David Fast reported that he just missed the bump spot in the Late Model class, but he made the A Main in 410 Sprint where he finished 7th overall!

Heading north on I-35 we now make our way to FTR (Full Throttle RC) Raceway in Foley, MN. Last weekend was the State Championship finale, and we had many drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with Joe Zaier Jr.

He competed in the 1/5 gas truck class, and he would take the win and was joined on the podium with his son in 3rd place!

Team driver Tyler Aubart competed at the finals and after the points were calculated he would finish 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1st overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Fellow JC driver Ben Humphrey also raced at the finals, and when the season totals were added up he would finish 5th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Electric Buggy!

JC pilot Joe Scaramell competed at the finals last weekend too, and for this round he would suffer a DNF in the finals for the 35+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, but in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class he had better luck as he netted the TQ and W!

Crossing the stateline once again we now make our way to Cheese City Xtreme R/C in Monroe, WI. Last weekend was their Stateline Dirt Challenge that saw more than 200 entries!

Team driver Steve Richter competed in two classes at this event, and he would finish 4th overall in both the 1/8 Electric Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes along with some cold hard cash!

Sending it south we now visit Thunder Road Hobbies in Moline, IL for this quick update.

This past weekend was Round 4 of their points series, and team driver Cody Meiferdt would take the win and a cash purse in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Bouncing over to the ‘Hoosier state’ let’s see how the team performed at a few different events taking place last weekend. Our first stop is at Raw RC Raceway in the city of Elwood. This facility hosted the final round of the Elite Dirt Oval Series, and team driver Kevin Mcnatt competed in the SC Mod class where he set the TQ but suffered a DNF in the A Main. However, when the series points were tabulated he would win the championship in this class!

Our next update in the state is from Finish Line Raceway in Hudson.

Last weekend this track held the Tri State Oval Series, and team driver Ilan Sanderson reported that he took the win in the Mod Sprint class!

Sending it south again we now visit the RC Farm in Crossville, TN. Last weekend was their Summer Shootout race, and team driver Randy Enger doubled up at this event with two TQs and wins in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy and Pro 1/8 Electric Truggy classes!

On to Ohio we now stop in at the city of Toledo where T.A.R.C.A.R is located at. This past weekend was their Members Memorial Race, and team driver Michael Rinke let us know that he would grab the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! He was joined on the podium by fellow JC driver Chuck Berg in 2nd!

Team drivers Steve Culbert (2nd) and Larry Komisar (3rd) both made the podium in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class too!

Heading east now we stop in at Ashland, PA for the season opener of the Central PA RC Monster Trucks Series.

Team driver Jonathan Sohl competed in five classes at this event and he put in solid results!

  • Pro Mod – 1st place
  • Retro – 1st place
  • Sport Mod – 2st place
  • Challenger – 2nd place
  • 2WD – 2nd place

Those are some great results and he also earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award this week for competing in the most classes at one RC event!

Also competing at this event was his tire teammate JJ Eaton, and he would finish 2nd in the Pro Mod class along with a 1st place finish in the Challenger class!

Staying in Pennsylvania we now get our next update from team driver Garrett Hawbaker. He recently went to Pit Stop Hobbies in Mount Joy to compete in the ThomasRC Cash race event. He competed in two classes, and when it was all said and done he would finish 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy, plus the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was his tire teammate Benjamin Decker!

Continuing east we now make our way to RC Madness in Enfield, CT. This past Sunday was their final outdoor and points series race. Team driver Eric Bresnahan would finish 2nd in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class along with the TQ and W in the Stadium Truck class! When the season points were added up he would finish 2nd in the 17.5 class and 1st overall in stadium truck! Taking the W for the finals in the 17.5 2wd class was his tire teammate John Cravotta!

Next, we head to Rhythm RC Raceway in Hammonton, NJ for this quick update from team driver Enzo Albertoni. This past weekend he attended the Northeast RC Racers Podcast Cup that saw over 100 entries! He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class where he finished 2nd overall!

Heading to Virginia next let’s get some updates from the team competing at different events. Our first stop is at Coastal RC Indoor Speedway and Hobbies in Chesapeake. Last weekend they hosted Round 5 of the Battle on the Coast Series, and team driver Josh Parrish set the TQ and finished 2nd in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Our next stop in the state is at Leaned Out Raceway in town of Disputanta. This track was host to Round 5 of the VCS (Virginia Off- Road Championship Series), and this race also doubled as Maddy Long’s birthday race too! Competing for the team was JC driver Javon Mallory, and he would finish 4th overall in both the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

JConcepts driver Ryan Rand registered for two classes and at the end of the day he would finish 3rd in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd place in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium was the birthday girl and fellow JC driver Maddy Long and her father Rusty Mihelich! Maddy would also TQ this class and grab another TQ and W in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class as well!

Team driver Brian Miskolczi and his son Layton also competed at this race, and his son Layton would suffer a DNF in the B Main for the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class, but Brian had better luck as he finished 5th overall!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Ben Panic. Last weekend he competed in the QLD state titles event that took place about 1,700km north of Sydney.

When the race wrapped up he would finish 7th overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!
