Winter Indoor Nationals – Day 1 Recap

We had a great first day at the Winter Indoor Nationals. Started early at Waffle House and ended late with a dinner at Long Horn steakhouse.

It’s roughly 60-65 degrees inside the SmacTrac building and it’s getting warmer as the drivers are showing up for this weekends race. Watching today in practice it looks like Tanner Denney has fast lap with Brent Thielke and Chris Baumgartner just a tick behind. It was a long day of prepping equipment and tires but once it’s finished you are done for the weekend.

The green compound Bar Code V2 and original blue Bar Codes seem to be the tire to run for us. I’m running the Profiled insert in the rear with stock inserts up front cut to width.

I hit the track with 2 brand new cars this weekend and so far after some shock changes and updates the B4.1 is working to my liking. I only ran the B44.1 once and I need to do a little wrenching on it to get it completely ready for tomorrow.

I would say between the 3 of us we only have about 5 practice runs each so I still expect us to get better. It looks like 18 laps is the pace in 2wd and most likely 19 in 4wd.

We ran the club race last night and there were 24 heats so hopefully that is just a taste of what is to come for the weekend.
