Yesterday was day 1 here at the ROAR 1/8th Off-Road Fuel Nationals, and we ran one round of practice after all drivers checked in. The weather was a very nice 71 degrees, which put everybody in a laid back mood. You couldn’t ask for much better weather for an outdoor race!
The track was being watered every other heat to keep some moisture in the track without making it too muddy and messy. There is no straightaway on this layout, but lots of jumps and technical chicanes and elevation changes that will be very difficult to master for even the fastest drivers.
I ran Sevens on my truck, but I feel the pin was too small. Today I will give Green Subcultures a shot, which should be much better, especially on the new Elevated rims. For buggy I used Green Hybrids, which definitely seem to be the tire of choice for the hard-packed, moist surface that has a little bit of loam on top. I’m pretty sure that’s what I’m going to stick with.
Today there is 2 more rounds of practice and Friday starts qualifying. For the final practice rounds I will be testing the new JConcepts Hi-Flow body for my Durango DNX408 buggy! It looks awesome!
