Roar Fuel Off-Road Nationals – Travel Update

So here I sit at the Harrisburg airport. A straight flight from Orlando to Harrisburg was quick and smooth but I have a delay while I wait for Tanner Denney to come in from the West coast. I’m waiting for roughly 3 hours in the airport McDonalds. Unfortunately this was the only option while trying to mesh a west coast and east coast flight. I’m sitting in a corner at a McDonald’s. Whatever happened to nobody puts baby in a corner?

I’m concerned if I wait too long at the McDonalds I’m going to gain weight just hanging out. Every minute that goes by is critical. How long can I possibly put off a shake or chocolate chip cookies? I already got a fruit and walnut salad but seriously how long can I put off something else?

I have my IPad to keep me company and it’s still in working order. However, I noticed it has some wear and tear after the Alabama trip and it now has a cracked screen in each lower corner. Sweet! The protective case did absolutely nothing. Hopefully I got the insurance.

I’m here for the ROAR Off-Road Nationals and I flew in like a rockstar. John drove the F-350 and trailer and has everything already setup at the track and ready to go. Roughly a 17 hour drive from Florida to PA makes John the man.

Last year we saw an amazingly tough race at Thunder Alley and Ryan Maifield won the 1/8th truck class and Ryan Cavalieri took the buggy class. Jared Tebo TQed both classes but didn’t run as well in the mains and had some problems which affected the outcome. Will the Ryan’s take it again or Tebo be able to finish the deal as he did in 2010? Will Ty Tessman win his first nationals or will someone slightly below the radar have a magical weekend? WC, Cody King, Dakota Phend, Dustin Evans, Jesse Robbers, Adam Drake or Billy Easton?

Will the results from the recent AMS event play a factor into the event? Maifield should have the confidence. Will it carry over? I know one thing that has carried over and that is the cold I got in Alabama. My ears felt like they were going to explode on the descent into Harrisburg. Time for some meds…

Some photos have popped up of the track and it looks like it will be a little tight in some sections, and with no real straight it looks like there is about a 3/4 straight with jump and then the Daytona berm. It looks nicely prepared courtesy of Kevin and crew and I’m excited to see that first vehicle hit the track on Thursday. It appears everyone is here a day early and Wednesday we will all just wrench and over analyze the track.

Hopefully the weather stays away long enough for the track to do its thing and so the track crew doesn’t have to work constantly. The weather here is like Florida so it may rain at anytime and then it’s super hot and humid after. Is everyone ready to get this party started?
