Team Driver Curtis May started off 2016 on top with JConcepts. He sends us this report from the annual Hangover Race hosted by Sparks RC Raceway…
On January 1st I attended the Hangover Race at Sparks Park Raceway, this would be the start of my 2016 race season. With the Winter Midwest race just around the corner I felt it would be a good chance to do some last minute testing with the my TLR 8 3.0e.
The race pulled some of the areas fastest guys and would be a good test to see where I stacked up going into the years first big race. From the first time on the track until round 1 of qualifying I knew I had the car to beat.
With 16 heats and 150 entries the race director decided to shorten the race program to 2 heats and a main. Round 1 I was able to put in a solid run and take the early TQ with the only 16 lap run. Round 2 didn’t go as well as the first round, I made a few mistakes and was unable to improve on the first round TQ. Still the only one to turn 16 laps.
Going into the mains I was very confident and knew the only one could beat me was myself, so my game plan was to run smooth and mistake free. After the dust had settled it was my JConcepts equipped TLR 8 3.0e that came out on top. Gold Dirt Webs provided me with tons of traction which helped me lap the entire field.
