JConcepts INS8 Series Champions Crowned!!

After traveling to 5 amazing tracks located across the country, the 8th season of the JConcepts Indoor National Series has come to an end. This year, the competition was at an all-time high with many pro drivers making appearances throughout the series adding fuel to the flame. The energy and intensity at JConcepts INS events are always off the charts as the host tracks go out of their way to provide an awesome racing facility and top-notch race track.

The INS is a true nationwide series testing the skills of many over the course of the year taking the best 3 of 5 results to score for the highly contested, series overall Champions. It’s not easy. Not only does it take the dedication and commitment, but being able to adapt on a variety of surfaces in a short period of time to try and get the best results can test your limits. Teamwork, setup knowledge, talent, and preparation, are all parts of the puzzle and the INS is a great test to see what you’re really made of.

Winter – Smactrac – St. Charles, Missouri

It all starts at Smactrac. Since the beginning of the INS, Smactrac has been the season opener and now Smactrac is better than ever. With more clay added, the traction is much improved and the racing was killer during the 2018 season. Over the past few years, the Winter INS has been experiencing an upswing in turnout with interest peaking in anticipation to kick off their winter race season. The layouts are always fun and the tightness of the track always adds to the challenge as things happen fast at Smactrac.

Spring – TRCR – Tacoma, Washington

It’s always a fun time in Tacoma as NW racing legend, Scott Brown, knows how to put on a race. His locals are fast, the program is faultless, and the drama is always high here bringing a very unique racing experience. Arguably the toughest race of the year as the locals really know how to bring their A game defending home turf at these bigger races. Over the years, many racers from all over the world have made their way to TRCR and every one of them loves the clay. With grip for days and a flowy layout in a tight space, only ups the atmosphere and intensity that’s legendary to TRCR.

Summer – Hobby Action – Chandler, Arizona

When Hobby Action came online, we were excited to partner up with the premier track of Arizona for the Summer INS. Without question, HA is one of the best RC facilities in the world and having such a dedicated track crew there is icing on the cake. It’s clean, its bright, it definitely has the aura that asserts amazing. The other bonus is that HA has 2 world champions calling it their home track cultivating a super fast following. This year’s Summer INS race was also called the unofficial Nationals warm-up as HA was hosting the Nationals a month later making it a big year for Hobby Action.

Fall – RC Excitement – Fitchburg, Massachusetts

Every year, the Fall INS at RC Excitement keeps producing one of the biggest turnouts of the year. This radical RC playground houses more than 7 unique tracks with a good mix of indoor and outdoor tracks at their disposal. New for this year was the nice facility upgrades that gave RCE a refresh on paint, new yellow pipes, and new bright fluorescent lights making the Fall INS was better than ever. What could be better than an awesome race located 20 minutes from historic Boston in the fall? Not much at all.

Finale – Beach RC – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

With the closure of SpeedRC, the hunt was on for an INS Finale location replacement. After careful consideration and exploring our options, Beach RC was selected to be the JConcepts INS8 Finale race located in Myrtle Beach, SC and after our 1st INS event last weekend, we definitely made the right choice. Beach RC is something special. The clay is awesome, the pits are nice, the hobby shop is among the best. It really has just about everything going for it. The unique shape really makes this track stand out as there isn’t another track on the INS calendar that’s even close. If you’re into a great race that has just about everything, check out the INS final next year in 2019!

After 5 awesome races, here are the results based on taking the best 3 of 5 races to account for the final score. We can’t thank our sponsors enough for their continued support in making the JConcepts Indoor National Series such a success. Thanks to Hobbywing, Schuurspeed, Team Associated, Reedy, Yokomo, Savox, and Tekin for being so great to work with and giving back to the race scene.

Lastly, without the killer tracks that host the INS, we couldn’t do it without you. Thanks for the wonderful season and we’re sure to make 2019 even better!
