Last Saturday was the final round of the 2020 JConcepts Super Cup Championship Series that was rescheduled from earlier in the year due to the pandemic. The extended forecast called for rain that weekend, but even with that on the back of driver’s minds we still saw 80 entries for this race.
On Friday the weather was beautiful as practice was held from 5-9pm and on Saturday 2 rounds of qualifying began.
In the Mod 2wd Buggy class team driver Julien Oliveras set the pace as he laid down the fastest laps in each round to lock in the top qualifying position.
In the competitive Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class, JC driver Kenny Setser was the only driver on a 14 lap pace in round 1 and also ran the fastest lap times in round 2 to lock in the TQ for the day.
After qualifying was done all the B Mains began. The top 2 finishers in each B Main would transfer into the AA Mains. We had completed all the B Mains and were about halfway through all A1 Mains when the weather took a turn for the worse and ended racing for the day.
Since we had completed A1 of both the Mod 2wd and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes those A1 winners took the title for the weekend. So in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class Kenny would take the win, and in the Mod 2wd Buggy class our own Paul Wynn would come away with the victory!

The Newberry track crew led by Brad Easom had to deal with unpleasant weather all week, and they reworked the entire track surface at least 6 times leading into this event. It was amazing to see a “local club” family atmosphere again and we can’t say enough good things about Newberry RC Park and what they are building there. Do you have overall points Final for the series?
No sorry not yet. They used 2 different laptops during the series so they are working with LiveTime to get the final points figured out.
